Is your full time job rewarding?

How many ppl here have other jobs full time besides this industry? f so why are you not doing this full time? Just curious how ppl feel about there jobs in general tht bring in the most income to them. Do you feel it is a rewarding job? I've just been thinking about my full time money these days and life stuff. Just asking for ppls opinions about this stuff and if any others think about it? After all it's not about the money right? I mean there is more to life than just $$$. happy hump day!

There are times where I'm sure others whom I am working for and completing tasks for find the end result to be rewarding. But it is not always rewarding for me. I would have to say the people that probably feel their job is most rewarding are those in a service based industry or a governmental appointed position servicing society as a whole. Those that are the bosses or run their own company which provides for others and their employees probably feel a high level of reward as well. I know I would if it were me!

I guess it all depends on what you do day in and day out and if the end result is satisfying to both you and your employer. I would imagine most individuals would say it is a partial rewarding feeling they have. The most important thing is that you are semi happy in life and your occupation because life is too short to not be. It's not always about the money either...that's for sure. Was just pondering life and all it has to offer on a perfect wednesday. Don't mind me...

Nope. I make about $150,000 a year at it and I am bored to tears. But the money is good, I don't have to touch poop with my bare hands and I only work 32 hours a week, with three day weekends so I deal with it.

I hate my day job. Nothing about it is rewarding. I sit at cubicle and type legal ads for newspapers. The only reason i stay is because it pays rent and car payment.
I will be starting a mainstream business in the next week or two. I found a niche in a common business that no one is doing. Hopefully it goes well.

It isn't money that is the root of all evil.... it is the lack of money.

I haven't had a mainstream job in 10 years although I have been offered a few. Would take a lot of money to get me on the morning train going to an office.

It's hard for any job to really be rewarding unless you are working for yourself.

Some times

I have to support customers and to be honest that sucks.

But being able to service my own customers on company time and use company resources makes of for the lack of $$ I make an hour. Also the fact that I'm giving more $$ as different projects launch.

The more I put in the more I get out.

I enjoy working on more of the adult projects that have caught my interest.

Taken from probloger:

Here are 10 reasons ?JOB? should be a curse word in your vocabulary:

1. Working a job makes someone else, besides you, wealthy: Why would you want to spend the majority of your life pushing paper for someone else?

2. Pay and benefits never keep up with the real cost of living: Jobs have never and will never keep up with the real rate of inflation. Jobs are designed to make you poorer.

3. Jobs force you to get up at the same time every day: Who likes when their alarm clock goes off to get up and go to a thankless job?

4. Most jobs require you to wear a costume of some kind: Even if you feel special wearing a suit and tie to work, you?re still wearing a costume for someone else?s benefit.

5. Bosses wield the power of your very livelihood over you: Many are so worried about losing their job that they?re willing to put up with being treated like a slave by the head slave.

6. Jobs force you to pay the highest percentage tax of any form of income: Even (and especially) if you have a good-paying job, you?ll be forking over 30+% of your income to Uncle Sam. That means you work 1/3 of the year for free.

7. Not having a job makes people unnecessarily miserable: Why should you hate yourself because you can?t find a job? As soon as you start loving yourself again, you?ll be turning down job offers.

8. Jobs zap your passion to do what you really want to do with your life: Even the minority of people who claim to like their jobs, usually aren?t passionate about their tasks or the company they work for. They usually like their job because of material reasons like; it pays well or offers benefits. Don?t let a job get in the way of your passion.

9. You?ll never be in control of your life working for someone else: If someone has the power to end your way of life, then you will never be free. Who wants that kind of bondage?

10. Most jobs hold back your potential as a human being: Let?s face it, most jobs are mindless and easily replaceable. You have infinite potential to accomplish whatever you can dream up. How many jobs will permit you to live up to that opportunity?

My FT job was a good paying job in a solid company in a good (generally recession-proof) industry. It was not interesting or rewarding outside off the paycheck it provided. It was a huge leap of faith to leave it and grow my personal projects, but it was either that leap or one off of a roof somewhere...

Haven't had a job since 2000, I was laid off from my programming job during the dot bomb... While I make way more money now, the main thing the is the flexibility, when I see the sun shining I can take off to the beach, ride my bike or do whatever and finish working at night or the next day - that is what really matters.

Glad to be self employeed

There was nothing worse in life than working at the Post Office. Hated every minute there and when I was off work, spent every minute dreading going back to work. I managed to piss off the head supervisor so he micromanaged my every minute there. He'd start me on a task and as soon as I got a rhythm going, move me to another.

I've worked for really good companies and crappy ones. But oddly, one of the worst bosses gave out $50 bills to all the office each month if the sales staff met or broke the sales goal.

But my last job was a joy to go to work for. A major movie theatre company. Bbenefits like seeing the James Bond movie in advance and getting a buffet dinner and 2 vodka martinis.

But what I loved best was I researched unclaimed property. It's a fucking fun treasure hunt. You can't just look for the company name. A lot of the times the names would be misspelled. And most of the time the money was listed under the name of the local theatre name. But when you're expecting a check from NY State for about $5,000 and they send you $72,000 it's a great feel ing even if it's not your money.

Then my boss needed documentation for a $32,000,000 tax write off. Gave me 8 weeks to complete the assignment with increasing bonuses for each successful week. Had to bust ass to do that. But I failed the last week. I could have lied, but damn I loved that job so much. For lunch I could walk 3 blocks to one of their theaters and get a great lunch for 1/2 price. Even got passes to their special theaters that have the recliners and drink/food service.

They were so cool that every couple of months had a breakfast meeting so everyone could meet the new people.

But being home everyday is so much better. Only thing I miss was the dozens of choices for lunch in walking distance.

I usually end up getting bored and hating everything I do no matter how much it pays or how much I thought I was going to like it when I started.

I have at least a few issues

the only way your job should be rewarding is that you get paid to do it.

people who look for fulfilment from their job are doing it wrong, it doesn't exist... You get satisfaction from the things you do away from the desk ;)

My full time job is in adult, and has been for some time. I do enjoy it enough to keep doing it. I will admit that I do not get the "thrills" like I used too. Luckily, while I do work in other niches beyond my own of interest, I get to work with young toe sucking lovelies which always keep things fresh. If I was not so vested in my own personal fetish, I think the grind would have gotten to me.

That being said, I have the hosting and software companies keeping things diverse enough that there is enough variety in my day to keep my attention. We have some 20 different projects going now, and while it's stressful at times, it keeps me excited and renews my energy.

If it were not for the creative aspect of this business, I can't say I would enjoy it as much.
