Glad to be self employeed

There was nothing worse in life than working at the Post Office. Hated every minute there and when I was off work, spent every minute dreading going back to work. I managed to piss off the head supervisor so he micromanaged my every minute there. He'd start me on a task and as soon as I got a rhythm going, move me to another.

I've worked for really good companies and crappy ones. But oddly, one of the worst bosses gave out $50 bills to all the office each month if the sales staff met or broke the sales goal.

But my last job was a joy to go to work for. A major movie theatre company. Bbenefits like seeing the James Bond movie in advance and getting a buffet dinner and 2 vodka martinis.

But what I loved best was I researched unclaimed property. It's a fucking fun treasure hunt. You can't just look for the company name. A lot of the times the names would be misspelled. And most of the time the money was listed under the name of the local theatre name. But when you're expecting a check from NY State for about $5,000 and they send you $72,000 it's a great feel ing even if it's not your money.

Then my boss needed documentation for a $32,000,000 tax write off. Gave me 8 weeks to complete the assignment with increasing bonuses for each successful week. Had to bust ass to do that. But I failed the last week. I could have lied, but damn I loved that job so much. For lunch I could walk 3 blocks to one of their theaters and get a great lunch for 1/2 price. Even got passes to their special theaters that have the recliners and drink/food service.

They were so cool that every couple of months had a breakfast meeting so everyone could meet the new people.

But being home everyday is so much better. Only thing I miss was the dozens of choices for lunch in walking distance.
