Help - 3D Guys - Faster Renders???

This render took me almost four minutes. And I have almost nothing on it. Wondering how you guys render fast. If I had to do video I would be screwed.

By the way this is the new Genesis Characters V5 and M5 69ing. I adapted about 20-30 sex poses for them from my old V4 and M4 Poser and Daz files, but this takes forever. Is a Mega Computer the only answer?

Not sure about Genesis, but when I need to render things faster in 3ds Max, I do things like set default renderer to scanline instead of Mental Ray, Vray, Maxwell, etc., set sampling down to around 1/4-1/32, use only one good light source or just ambient lighting, use pixel post effects instead of shaders if possible, use lower res texture files, optimize your meshes, etc.

What are you able to change as far as rendering settings go?

4 minutes isn't too bad, though. Some of my scenes have taken over a week to render on 24 computer network render..

What system, how much Ram, what OS? Ok, don't know studio but if genesis slows down why not use V4 and M4?

Personally i would not complain about a few minutes, im used to render times between 10 minutes and 10 hours ;)

I use Softimage with Mental Ray, so I don't have much Poser knowledge. I would suggest getting a faster computer. I don't know what we could tell you other than that.

Let's hear your system specs.

Thanks, Dude. You're probably right. I'm trying to decide if I should go in reverse and stick to story. Maybe a graphic novel.

Long time ago (Poser5 times) and i gave up on the vid idea pretty fast. Not really because of the render time, creating a vid that meets minimum quality standards is no easy task, especially with Poser. Not to mention that a vid without sound does not really cut it.

Since i found a native english writer to cooperate i will venture into comics and visual novels (a VN is kind of a comic with interactive parts that also can include sound or animations)

Some test renders for the stuff i am working at the moment:

You know what I recently realized in my own playing around. You have to add expressions first, because that stupid look on the model's faces ruins everything IMHO.

Shit looks good though

vids are still damn near impossible without using a render farm, it takes me STILL about 3 days to render 1 fucking minute of video, and best case scenario it comes out without issues like collides, odd facial ticks, or jumpy movements, otherwise say hello to frame per frame tweaking and another 3 days of praying it comes out ok.

on the bright side, it's because of just this issue that the 3D Toon niche is one of the few left that can still make decent money without video content.

4 mins for an image also is not very bad, few years ago I was seeing the same times Lyno mentioned above, these days a damn good image takes just under 4 mins on my new render machine.

my best advice....

Wait it out, the software is finally catching up to the hardware, only in the last 2 releases of both Poser and Daz Studio have finally allowed users to use as much as the computer power as they want / can handle prior to that, no matter how beefy your rig was you had to wait.

So most of these sites people join are actually still just pics? I know mine is cause I went AVS, but that's why I did that. I see a lot now that are self contained through CC Bill and others. How much vid is usually on them? Just curious.

I have you, Sextronix, Hentai Biz, Crunchy Dollars just recently... Wondering if something like Sextronix gets more sign ups cause they are offering other sites in package or something.

I'm thinking story lines now..?

Most 3d buyers realize vids aren't easy but with so many tubes newbies expect videos everywhere so you get confused unhappy buyers sometimes nowadays.
Sextronix makes more sales because they are fucking ancient and have the traffic to push sales to anything.
Microniche stuff can sell still just remember ccbill has some odd rules about animals and aliens and the like even if it is all computer generated...

Yeah, how do you get by that?

I would like something where there was no censorship whatsoever and survived on story premise.

Who is the best processor for that considering that it's going to be in narrative form and no real children or animals will be hurt and actually could bring awareness to their cause if I do it properly?

This part I mean...

I just don't offer that type of content, i'd rather be paid by ccbill then fuck around trying to find a processor. And don't even pretend to care about 'bringing awareness' ha

I'm not trying to say I care about awareness, except that if you want to do a narrative, it's hard to make a decent story without some objectionable content. Ever watch GAME OF THRONES?

Otherwise you just have posing shots that are much more stimulating in live action for sure.

P.S. I see these rape sites and Incest sites all the time. Who is processing them? I'm not after that but just curious if they would process something less intense and with more purpose

pretty much, or at least 75% pics and 25% video and there's only a few people who create and license video content in the first place. (myself and DullSpanky for example)

AVS Sites are great for 3D Toons but many of them have the same 'lifted' content so in the case of A-E I don't know really how many legit sites there even are there.

Paysites on the otherhand depend on who's sites they are mine are like I said, 75/25 others offer 'related' content such as anime and hentai videos, and some offer 'lifted' videos.

The biggest issue I've had over the years as a producer though is hardly anyone is willing to pay for what the content is really worth, people expect to pay "real porn" prices I guess no matter what the content is.

I've had video packages that took me 4 months to create listed for $1,000 (30 videos + matching photo sets) and some buyers tell me "I'll give you $200 tops" now that would be fine IF I did not have 4 months of my life wrapped up into that content AND I sold an unlimited number of licenses.

Right now I'm actually in the process of closing down my content store, and I'm offering ALL 21 of my packages for $9K total (over 1,000 photo sets and 80+ videos) and I've STILL got a few ppl telling me that's too expensive lol (skip the videos, we're talking less then $9 per set here)

The exact wording USED to be....

"Anything that is not 100% human is considered to be bestiality"

many of us wasted months of our lives back in 2003-2005 with CCBILL and other processors fighting on this issue, and CCBILL went as far to say to me...

"In order for a human being to have wings or a tail for example, there HAD to be some sort of inter species mating so therefore it's bestiality"

YES that statement is 100% laughable, and YES someone took WAY too much time to come to that conclusion, but honestly, at the end of the day NO cartoon is "100% Human" they are drawings or renderings, they do not breath, were not born, they are not real (that scares me too as IF common sense was used that would ban ALL cartoon content under "not 100% human" self imposed laws.

The claim was always "Visa will not allow it" that is what CCBILL always fell back to when anyone argued or asked why, BUT that is a total crock of shit (at least it used to be)

because IF you were under CCBILL's EU side you could have monsters, aliens, robots etc AND accept Visa, here in the states however you could not so it was a matter of choice per say and other processors followed suit.

Now, with all of that being said, I've been told now that there have been changes made ACROSS THE BOARD and now no one will be able to have non human content, I've not found anything in print about this, but unlike years ago I'm not really looking for it.

But I AM interested in seeing where this goes, as MANY programs would be forced to shut down as their entire site/s are based on monsters and other 'non human' content.

Honestly, I don't see the point of cartoon porn unless it involves things that we don't see in live action porn. Bring on the weird and fantastical.

This censorship bullshit already has crossed the border to insanity. I made a set with a
sailor / hooker / dark alley setup. Had to redo the set because the sailor was holding a
bottle of beer. Reason: bottle of beer = possible drunk = rape. (Does that mean a drunk
sailor who paid a hooker for sex could sue the hooker because he was raped by her?)
Replaced the bottle with a milk carton, at least kind of funny.

A fellow artist told me he had to remove a outdoor sex scene because there have been
sheep on a meadow in the background. I had to remove a set because of a painting of
a horse hanging on a wall. Those moral taliban are going berserk.

If the same rules that apply to "adult stuff" would apply to Hollywood there would be no Hollywood.

you know how I feel about all that shit, we were standing side by side (virtually speaking) years ago when this shit all started lol, but I agree it's getting downright fucking pathetic what is being "pulled" and or "not allowed"

BUT..... at the same time you have full programs with 100% incest and rape stories and they have ZERO problems getting processing, and new sites launching UNDER CCBILL with far worse stuff then you or I ever dared to put out.

a few of my 'favs'

I had to pull a set cause the last shot had a jizz soaked 50 dollar bill stuck to the chicks ass (no money allowed) BUT 2 things...

1) was not real money, had MY fucking face on it lmao
2) HOW MANY CCBILL sites both under USA and EU FLAT OUT show 'sex for money' scenarios? I lost count over the years to be honest.

I made a comic style set ONCE and it was flagged for the word "FORCED" but get this...

"Mary was forced to work yet another overtime shift......" THAT was the context and EVEN AFTER I made them READ IT I was STILL 'forced' to alter the wording lol

also had issues with animals (STRICTLY as background, NO WHERE NEAR any sex stuff)

Since I relaunched my program however, I've spend DAYS on the phone with CCBILL'S policy dept, and other depts and I've been told some interesting stuff...

It is OK if I wanted to make a series of say Boris or Frazetta styled art with ogres, giants, dragons, demons etc etc AS LONG as there was ZERO sex going on, OR any implied sex, so at least for me that is a total plus as I have been wanting to do more fantasy art styled content but never bothered to waste the time in fear of the all mighty AUP.

I was also told not too long ago that non human sex was OK... AS LONG AS it was NON Human + NON HUMAN, AND there could NOT be ANY humans on the site (so monsters with aliens, trolls with witches etc etc would be ok) I have not tested this out, nor asked if this 'rule' still stood.

The shitty thing here is this HAD ZERO to do with Visa (Just look at EU Visa to know this as a fact) CCBILL took it upon themselves to create this insane policy (yeah it is their total right to do so, BUT if a rule is a rule is a rule EVERY CLIENT should have to follow it!!)

And yes if there were no rules (like 98 - 2004 lol) then we would prolly be flooded with virtual cp, horse fucking, rape, incest etc etc etc.... but wait... that's all here now..... and some are with CCBILL and take visa

oh, and as far as I can tell, you can put damn near anything you want on A-E so if you wanted to just go the AVS route there's always that option, I've seen some pretty out there shit on A-E with 3D Toons lol

The hilarious thing is the mainstream is so much more explicit and sexualized nowadays, check out this music video animation on youtube

https://youtube.com/watch?v=6QFwo...layer_embedded

Try putting that on a paysite and you'd get canned faster than you can say tentacle monster.

The way to go seems to be go mainstream, and put all the sex and perversion you like as long as you stay an inch away from being actual porn you'll be golden

take Queen's blade for example: Not porn. Just very, very, very close.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=6QFwo...layer_embedded

edit: fucking embed tags haven't used them in years
