I don't get it....

"Pricing Fiber 500 at $349 CA per month"

Half a meg for $349? You can get 4-7mbps dsl for a $100 or so, with 512Kbps upload. Maybe more.

We have DSL and are miles away from the central office, and the uptime is great. You could reliably run servers off of the connection.

Cogent is out to lunch on this one....

Cogent is "out to lunch" on everything they are into. That is why they are always in finaccial trouble, there business plan was stupid from day 1 and now they are just grabbing for straws as a last ditch effort

They need to hit an egress / ingress IP transit ratio. Too much outbound traffic vs. inbound. DSL helps improve those ratios - DSL servers typically download more than they upload (vice-versa with webservers).
