I don't get it....

Half a meg for $349? You can get 4-7mbps dsl for a $100 or so, with 512Kbps upload. Maybe more.

We have DSL and are miles away from the central office, and the uptime is great. You could reliably run servers off of the connection.

Cogent is "out to lunch" on everything they are into. That is why they are always in finaccial trouble, there business plan was stupid from day 1 and now they are just grabbing for straws:1orglaugh as a last ditch effort:1orglaugh

They need to hit an egress / ingress IP transit ratio. Too much outbound traffic vs. inbound. DSL helps improve those ratios - DSL servers typically download more than they upload (vice-versa with webservers).
