We would like to ask you to forward us your post address, so that we can then properly notify you about the request by the youth welfare institution and give you the opportunity to reply within one week after the notification.

Is this legit? It looks legit!

Does this mean that my freesite will be blacklisted and inaccessible in Germany? Germans are good customers; I don't want that to happen.

Anyone ever dealt with this before?

Yes german sites must have an entry page. French as well I think. You must also have an 'impressum' page with all your contact details.

No, I am American and this site is hosted in the good ole' U.S. of A., where this stuff is legal, at least until Rick Santorum becomes President and brings good ole' German-style censorship to our Homeland! Also the domain registration is private.

Your conclusion is wrong. Germany does not discriminate against people based on citizenship. It's laws are valid for all people who reside or do business in Germany, not just for German citizens.

There is also no landing page and nothing else you need, as long you, your domain and server are in US.
The one thing you can get blacklisted, is from google-Germany chiling effects, nothing else

Good idea to make the page for your German visitors. After all, you WANT adults who have credit cards or methods to pay anyway. Best filter them ASAP.

You have to use a government approved AVS which involves face-to-face age control, meaning the postman rings at your door and you gotta show him a valid form of ID, he approves your age and sends a document back to the AVS.

Then you also have to use an authentication method with some hardware (CD, USB Stick) involved, because your kids could steal your username/password.

A landing page will not be enough.
You have to remove all hardcore content in order to be compliant with german laws.

Consequence of not being compliant will be a delisting from google.de.

It´s not a landingpage.It´s a real adult verification system. You put your name, id card number and more to get your age verified.

Germans got a lot of hardcore sites on google.de index , but ger bureaucracy is far away from fast.in that way they just want to make examples.if this "Bundesprüfstelle für jugendgefährdende Medien" get aat least 1 site in half year down from google.de, they have the right to keep on and burn german taxes by removing few porn sites from google.de index.
