:mad Shitty domain owners getting desperate

Sorry, but you hoarded all of the good .com's, even some with dashes, and now you think because I purchased the .info and developed it into a nice revenue generating site I am going to buy your useless dot com for thousands of dollars??

fail.

Shouldn't have hoarded all those domains for inflated prices all those years, huh?

all domain sellers are desperate, ive never seen one that didnt come across like it... in the end they HAVE to sell domains to keep them alive, they are desperate, and in these times, even more so.

I would totally have and still would buy their .coms that match my .infos.

But I'm not doing it for like $6,500! lol.

If they wanted like $20-$40, I'd be all over it with some of the domains. But no, I usually just chuckle.

It's usually not the "domain owners" - its people like Rick Latona and others that have armies of total fuckwits who call themselves "brokers" out harassing people to buy overpriced domains where those fuckwits get a commission if the domain sells.

uhuh... and when a surfer hits a "good domain" as in a .com with no content, they bounce right to the other domain extension that has what they are looking for.

Good domains are becoming more and more useless as people hoard them while the rest of the internet grows.

and clicks from people who happen upon the wrong page (placeholders), those are becoming more worthless too, hence companies who have discontinued paying on things like that (google).

I get those emails everyday, they are trying to get you to buy the domain before it even drops to the public from the redemption period. Many times they don't even own it yet.

Start checking the domains if they are still in the redemption period, and usually you can register it yourself if it is not a premium domain.

I don't have many .info's but .net and .org's, and usually waiting for the .com if it becomes available.

Any ext can work, it all depends on how much work you put into it. Its obvious that .com is preferred over other ext. as it should be, its the top ext. all others are more or less second, third etc... rate when compared. There is a sense of pride in owning the .com, then again perhaps only a domainer feels this way.

Its kinda like being asked what type of car do you drive and answering a Lada vs a BMW

You can still buy a good .com, I see them post almost everyday for free at exxxpired.com. So I'm assuming you bought a .info because you got a really good keyword or combination.

It depends how great your .info domain is. If it's a really good combination, that means the .com version of the name is much much better so naturally it's worth a lot more. All developed domains in other tlds leak traffic to the .com versions, so it's a good idea to buy the .com if you are generating revenue on another tld.

In this case, I get those all the time too. Much of the time they're domains I was letting go of myself.

20-40 bucks is probably less than what they've spent on renewals. If it was a domain from a pre-release or expired auction it cost them a minimum of about $70.

Why are you laughing? You have the dot info. I can't remember the last time any search engine ever recommended that I visit a .info site.

People who have real domains on real extensions are doing you a favour by offering you the opportunity to buy their properties. Its a bit upsetting that they automatically spam people who have worthless, shitty domains - but, HEY!

People will hold on to "worthless" dot coms for years, whereas dot infos (do they still exist?) are worth the yearly renewals at best - unless you have some kind of major media backing...

I take that back... Dot infos are worth about as much as my crusty socks. You'd be better off accepting the dot com offer and redirecting your dot info traffic to your new - actuallly real - domain.

ilikesexygirls.info = worthless
ilikesexygirls.com = a LOT to the idiot that believes that ilikesexygirls.info is worth anything.

Buy the dot com. Or dot net. Or dot org. Anything else is worthless over the long term (long term = a one year renewal)

I've never met met anyone who will click on a dot info link. Actually, I don't think I've ever even seen a dot info link listed on Google.

Keep laughing...

Wait, wait, wait... Why are you laughing?

Can't remember the last time I was on a .info domain.

They seem to be popular with the noob catchers i.e. earn money at home and get rich now schemes that gain their visitors by spamming forums and shitty youtube videos.

I guess the balance between shitty domain owners and shitty webmasters is pretty much equal.

I can't remember the last time I visited a .info either. Or a .biz, for that matter.

Indeed.

There is not a week that goes by that I do not get contacted by someone, or company, who holds the .com/.net/.org of a domain I own trying to sell it to me. Usually for unrealistic prices. I simply report it as spam (spamcop), and then hit delete and move along with my day.

You can follow domain sales each week to get an idea what is selling and for how much.
http://dnjournal.com/domainsales.htm

Looks like FootFetish.XXX went for $89,000

Since the domain in question was asking for $6500, drop down to the section "Additional Sedo .com Sales Between $2,000 - $6,000" and see what kind of names are being sold there. How does the name you want compare to these?
