Maryland considers ?revenge porn? bill

Jilted lovers in Maryland may have to find a more productive way to get over their exes.

The state's House of Delegates unanimously approved a bill to make revenge porn illegal, according to the Washington Post. The practice has become more popular as people upload and distribute private photos and videos of someone they were in a relationship with.

Under the Maryland bill, which must still be passed by the state's Senate and governor, anyone who causes "serious emotional distress to another by intentionally placing" an identifiable pornographic image, video or recording online can be charged, the newspaper reported.

People found guilty of the crime would face up to two years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

I've been shooting homemade porn since the late 1980s.... In fact, I've been working on destroying my collection. Just no need for that kind of liability at this point.

This sounds like parents, husbands and boyfriends can claim serious emotional distress if their daughter, wife or girlfriend voluntarily does porn.
