actually, to be technical, depending on the situation, moth 'moose' and 'mooses' can be correct. 'moose' when talking about single or plural of one group or species. 'mooses' when discussing several types.

at least, that's the way it works with fish. if you have 5 goldfish in your tank, you have 5 fish. myself, i have 2 species of fish in my tank, therefore i have 3 fishes.

"Mooses" is a "dual" word; the triple is "meece" and the true plural is "meeces". Thus:

1 Moose

2 Mooses

3 Meese

4 or more Meeses.

"Love to eat them meeses;
meeses what I love to eat.

there was a moose in my back yard the other day but Skufty my pet polar bear caught it and ate it. Blood everyone - the ground was red till the next snowfall. The antlers are still 150 feet from my back door

one mouse, two mice(animals)
one mouse, two mouses(thing)

one aviatrix, two aviatrices

one potato, two potatoes

amazing.

there was a poster ages ago that listed all the nouns for various animal groupings ie gaggle of geese, pride of lions, etc.

i haven't seen it in years but was always fascinated by english's ability to have a different word for everything..... eg a murder of crows is so much more descriptive than than a group of crows.
