What are ways a host can CHEAT you?
What are ways a host can cheat you?
-Would it be possible for a host to somehow steal your cookies, so ibill, ccbill etc dont give you the signup... but them instead when a sufer signs up? -Can a host somehow skim traffic from you? But somehow block your computers IP, so you will never see your traffic being redirectred? Hypothetically, what are ways your host can fuck you? (Yeah Im paranoid... but that's what huffing paint does to me) |

A while back - about a year ago - a member emailed us saying that when he tried to log on to our site he was taken to another site altogether. It took me a week to figure it out. Someone that we do business with - who install software on our servers - was skimming traffic. I will say it wasn't our credit card processor or host.
But yeah, it's very possible for someone to skim traffic or sales or whatever off of your server if they have access to it.

Now Im really fucking paranoid... plus that fact that my sales have doubled, and my traffic is way fucking up today. Maybe somebody at my hosting company is reading this shit. |

That kind of activity isn't unheard of but as you suspected of course it is possible. My advice would be to be hosted with a company that you see has a presence in the community and a reputation for good work. If you were ever in doubt you could probably have a linux guru periodically look at your server's configuration, etc.
Cheers, Brad
