Starting P90X Monday

Going to follow the P90X Doubles program exactly the the letter. Kind of curious about this program and have been for awhile. Lots of people seem to like it and it seems like the doubles will be a challenge.

Anybody else try this? What did you think about it? I will report my results here.

Good for you and good luck... Take lots of pics - at least one daily.

Dont mean your face obviously, just your torso

A friend of mine who is in pretty good shape started it about a month ago. He said there were days he couldn't get through everything it was too intense. Now a month later he says he feels great and can really see some good results so he swears by it.

I'm in pretty good shape to begin with and used to heavy work outs pretty much daily so I don't think it'll be that bad. That's why I'm going to do the doubles instead of the regular program. For me it's more like a new workout program to mix things up.

I'm starting it soon as well. I used to be in really good shape and for whatever reason I've slacked. I've started running again to get back into semi decent shape then I'm doing p90x.

im currently on week 2 of the p90x2 program which is like part 2 of p90x

the plyometrics is the hardest, but it gets easier every time. Definitely not for pansies

exercises are deceptively hard and full body, lots of balance work and core exercises so far.

I've done a few of the individual p90x videos... They are too long for me, hard for me to keep focussed. If it's any more than 40 minutes I need it to be a sport or something to distract me from the fact that I'm excercising

Hmm this might be a problem for me too. We'll see I guess.

I know someone who lost 40 pounds with p90x, so it works.

But so does running sprints -- and you can spend 4 minutes every other day doing that. It's all burning the same calories.

Works great. Did the full 90 days a couple years back

1) you will learn to hate tony
2) you will start to know all the shit he says before he says it
3) his jokes are all terrible
4) there is a guy with 1 leg in the leg video that will make you feel like half a man

Mute him from day 1 and you can avoid a lot of that

Started the program last week after 10 years of doing absolutely nothing and I can tell you that it feels great. I get up every morning at 5:50 am to do the workouts before I go to work and man I feel good! Good luck with that. It's a great program, but you have to condition yourself to do it everyday. If you miss a workout, it's hard to get back on track

It certainly is a beast of a workout. Not a ton of weight involved but the results are great. I did it for a month only and noticed some changes. I do plan on getting back on, just like everyone else! haha

I didn't follow the diet really, which is a major part of course, and I still saw some results. Best of luck!

You might not remember it but we've met before in Vancouver. I consider myself to be a very good judge of character and I got the strong feeling from you that you get things done you put your mind to. Buy P90X and do it. You can start with the modified exercises which are included on the DVDs and work your way up.

Tell yourself it's time to make a change and then do it. I know you have it in you.

It's just hard workouts. Nothing magical.

The same guy also is selling the "Ten Minute Workout" which he claims will give you amazing results with only ten minutes per day. So if you want to trust a guy like that, go ahead.

http://www.beachbody.com/product/fit...ute_trainer.do

Most high level trainers who work with elite athletes have been doing p-90 style workouts, but correctly, for years. You can read up on them pretty easily.

If you're already doing hard MMA style workouts, I doubt it will help much other than give you a change of pace. If all you do is lift weights the same you've been doing for years and run a little bit here and there, then it will probably yield decent results.

Depends what you already do with your workouts.

you guys actually pay for that kind of thing? haven't you been studying training and fitness for decades already? why fall for someone else's get rich marketing scheme when I'm sure you could design your own workout programs or read many of the gurus and other hardcore people training on the forums and other sites for free?

the last thing I'm going to do is pay for some program with a name with letters numbers and x's in it

its a good program with a lot of thought put into it.

Most things are on the net are free if you realy want but i dont mind paying for packaging and convenience. Kinda like the suckers that join paysites, I mean what the hell are those guys thinking?

Exercise routines get stale. I've used different personal trainers over the years to vary my routines and workouts. It's something that's gotten a fair amount of buzz and something people claim is a pretty difficult set of workouts. For $135 it's more like a challenge to me than anything else.

I understand what you are saying about stale routines, but I have so many bookmarks to routines and workout concepts and ideas on the net over the years I will never run out. There are so many GREAT sites out there with very intelligent people and trainers and so many routines and theories that there are not enough days in a decade to try them all. Just the fact that they packaged it up and named it p90x is enough reason for me to never pay money for it (although like I said already there is more than I could ever need all over the net for free already)

I make really good money with Beachbody.

Buy your stuff here or hit me up to become a reseller

You don't need to work out for an hour a day to get good results. It's about working smarter.

The 10 minute thing is no bullshit. You actually need less than that.

I already said sprints for 4 minutes a day a few times per week will get you in the same shape. It really will. If you want to go all out, then do the sprints on a hill. They call those hill sprints, and it will kick your ass into shape in a few weeks -- unless you're already morbidly obese.

You don't need to bop around like a headless chicken for 45 minutes.

As long as you follow it you'll get the results.

If you follow Insanity, you'll get the same results.

If flail your arms wildly like an insane person, while running up and down stairs 30 minutes every day -- you'll get the same results.

See where I'm going with this?

I just finished the first month of 'Insanity' and I've been very happy with the results so far. I'm down 10 pounds and have noticed an improvement in my physique, sleeping and back pain.

I agree that these programs help you stay motivated. For myself, it is difficult to maintain a regiment unless I have a schedule. The PX90x2 definitely sounds interesting and might look into that after I finish Insanity.

I've just been training for a 5K, hitting my cardio and doing weights. But I've been down with the flu for the past week and I've noticed the difference.

My understanding is if you are working out already px90 is pretty easy. Sort of curious as to what he thought of it.
