$10.50 a gallon of gas - $265 to fill my tank up.....a

Sometimes it sucks to live in a rich country - especially when driving a big car. Tesla is on my short-list of new car to get...

Yup. And funny enough being one of the largest producers of oil in the world. Seems a tad odd, doesn't it?

Is it Norway?
Here 1 gallon of gas is ~9$ . And yet we are not in the top 20 countries (faaaaar from it...).

Yeah. And I read that without all the taxes put on top, the price/cost it would be around $3 a gallon. Rest goes to the state.

Like Norway or Hungary not in Europe lol 1.5 X 3.785 X 1.32 = 7.5$
So now I should qoute, that here in Europe, 1 liter of gas is 465 HUF? So the figure will be 465 X 3.785 X 0.00506181 = 8.91$

Don't worry about it. The rest of the world will catch up soon enough, and then the finite supply of fossil fuels will completely disappear.

Maybe not in our lifetimes - or even our great-grandkid's lifetimes - but it will happen.

The Netherlands: 1.83 euros / liter.

1 US GAL = 3.78 liters.

So that's 1.83x3.78 = 6.84 euros / gallon.
1 euro = 1.32 USD.

So that makes it $9 / gal.

I thought gas prices over here were high...but apparently a bit lower that US. I find that surprising.

The US energy secretary testified the other day that their goal is to double the cost of gas. I wonder how that will affect other countries since the US won't be building refineries to increase supply, etc.

Hm, you might have some calculation error there If 1 gal is ~4$ in the US and ~9$ in NL (so as here in Hungary, btw...) how the NL price is < US price?

I remember it being less than a $1 when I first moved to LA. That was nuts.

That said, I always wondered why the gas is of such a shitty quality in the US. 87, really??? In Norway the lowest one is 95, next is 98 and you can also buy at certain gas stations the race car fuel. Expensive as hell though.

Yeah noticed that also... 87, nice. We don't really have 95 anymore, 98 is the standard and 100 fpr premium, some say 102 .

$6/gallon here but there is no such thing as traffic/commute/rush hour/laws etc. 50cc scooters abound everywhere, and most cars run on propane tanks in the trunk

Europe shows RON at the pump whereas USA shows AKI, so our 95 is pretty much their 89/90 octane if im not mistaken.

Just did the math and it is $6.8/gallon in Brazil. Almost no one runs on gasoline as everyone uses ethanol or natural gas.

I think a lot of other countries fail to realize is that Americans typically have to drive MUCH further compared to Europe where everything is much closer. Public transportation is also a much better, cheaper and effective alternative. Hell, it takes me 2 miles just to get out of my neighborhood, no less actually go somewhere.

Sure, this is true. And topping it off with mostly 6 or 8 cylinder monster trucks the discount the US gets when importing oil is quite big. There is no denying that "buying more gives better discount".

When I live in Los Angeles I do drive longer to get to anywhere - most US cities failed miserably when it comes to public transport - it is a shame, but it is what it is...
