$10.50 a gallon of gas - $265 to fill my tank up.....a

Sometimes it sucks to live in a rich country - especially when driving a big car. Tesla is on my short-list of new car to get...

L-Pink 03-04-2012 03:07 PM

You mean it sucks living in a country with high taxes on fuel.

OY 03-04-2012 03:11 PM

Yup. And funny enough being one of the largest producers of oil in the world. Seems a tad odd, doesn't it?

Is it Norway?
Here 1 gallon of gas is ~9$ . And yet we are not in the top 20 countries (faaaaar from it...).

OY 03-04-2012 03:20 PM

Yeah. And I read that without all the taxes put on top, the price/cost it would be around $3 a gallon. Rest goes to the state.

combson 03-04-2012 03:23 PM

Here in Europe is 1.5 Euros per liter

jabula 03-04-2012 03:29 PM

Gotta do what you gotta do.

Colmike9 03-04-2012 03:31 PM

I just paid $3.19/gal and people here are freaking out that it's too high... :Oh crap

Like Norway or Hungary not in Europe lol :) 1.5 X 3.785 X 1.32 = 7.5$
So now I should qoute, that here in Europe, 1 liter of gas is 465 HUF? :) So the figure will be 465 X 3.785 X 0.00506181 = 8.91$

Phoenix 03-04-2012 04:42 PM

i am just under the 100 dollar mark now to fill up my tank
my wifes car is about 67 i think

garce 03-04-2012 04:50 PM

Don't worry about it. The rest of the world will catch up soon enough, and then the finite supply of fossil fuels will completely disappear.

Maybe not in our lifetimes - or even our great-grandkid's lifetimes - but it will happen.

Just curious, how is the public transportation in Norway?

How much does it cost to fill up a reindeer?

ADG

Spunky 03-04-2012 05:26 PM

Geez,I would rather cab it once in awhile if that was the case

Nembrionic 03-04-2012 05:55 PM

The Netherlands: 1.83 euros / liter.

1 US GAL = 3.78 liters.

So that's 1.83x3.78 = 6.84 euros / gallon.
1 euro = 1.32 USD.

So that makes it $9 / gal.

I thought gas prices over here were high...but apparently a bit lower that US. I find that surprising.

2MuchMark 03-04-2012 07:09 PM

Haha.
Suckers.

The US energy secretary testified the other day that their goal is to double the cost of gas. I wonder how that will affect other countries since the US won't be building refineries to increase supply, etc.

BAKO 03-04-2012 10:34 PM

Its $4.10 per gallon in La for 87

Barry-xlovecam 03-05-2012 12:18 AM

Makes buying an electric vehicle advantageous. They will have to tax electricity more to cover the loss ...

Hm, you might have some calculation error there :) If 1 gal is ~4$ in the US and ~9$ in NL (so as here in Hungary, btw...) how the NL price is < US price?

I remember it being less than a $1 when I first moved to LA. That was nuts.

That said, I always wondered why the gas is of such a shitty quality in the US. 87, really??? In Norway the lowest one is 95, next is 98 and you can also buy at certain gas stations the race car fuel. Expensive as hell though.

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude - We fuel the reindeer with high quality highland grass and bushes. Then we eat them! :thumbsup

DWB 03-05-2012 02:44 AM

This is what I drive. Costs $3 USD to fill up. If I drive it every day I have to fill it up twice a week for a grand total of $6.

Yeah noticed that also... 87, nice. We don't really have 95 anymore, 98 is the standard and 100 fpr premium, some say 102 .

carlsandoval\ 03-05-2012 02:56 AM

what the fuck is wrong with you americans? italy unleaded fuel 1.90 euros 1 liter

1 gallon = 4.3 liters, do the math, more than 10 dollars a gallon.

have fun.

shimmy2 03-05-2012 03:16 AM

$6/gallon here but there is no such thing as traffic/commute/rush hour/laws etc. 50cc scooters abound everywhere, and most cars run on propane tanks in the trunk

k0nr4d 03-05-2012 03:44 AM

I'm at about $150-160 to fill up completely

Europe shows RON at the pump whereas USA shows AKI, so our 95 is pretty much their 89/90 octane if im not mistaken.

Italians have been doing great math lately. 1Gallon = 3.78L - But who's counting?!?! :)

Filled the tank of my F150 the other day and it cost me about 74$

Those propana tanks is what actuall should be called gas. That thing 6$/gallon is petrol.

To think that GM is shutting down production of the Volt for lck of demand. So gas is still not high enough.

Just did the math and it is $6.8/gallon in Brazil. Almost no one runs on gasoline as everyone uses ethanol or natural gas.

Verbal 03-05-2012 10:34 AM

I think a lot of other countries fail to realize is that Americans typically have to drive MUCH further compared to Europe where everything is much closer. Public transportation is also a much better, cheaper and effective alternative. Hell, it takes me 2 miles just to get out of my neighborhood, no less actually go somewhere.

Sure, this is true. And topping it off with mostly 6 or 8 cylinder monster trucks the discount the US gets when importing oil is quite big. There is no denying that "buying more gives better discount".

When I live in Los Angeles I do drive longer to get to anywhere - most US cities failed miserably when it comes to public transport - it is a shame, but it is what it is...

Rochard 03-05-2012 12:03 PM

I just drove from LA to Sacramento this weekend, paying $4.50 a gallon at the pump. It is what it is.

Here's something else that might surprise you - the US is the third largest oil producing country in the world. Russia is the first.
