Well doesn't that totally depend on what you want to do? People keep acting if a blog network = pure seo work only.
I've had plenty of blogs where i did nothing seo wise, just made a nice blog with nice content and normal link exchanged and they got good listings and decent seo traffic.

It's not as black and white as you trying making it look.
You can have a perfectly fine blog network without doing seo research before you start.

i'm talking keyword research. sure you can get lucky without it but just as many have just built out blogs based around keywords no one was looking for and thus failed.

Still you make it act as if you don't do keyword research you need to be very lucky to get some se traffic or something. This is just not true.
You know way more about blogs than i do, i'm sure of that but what you are saying here is simply not correct.

You are right, ofc It's not going to look exactly like that, you have to consider a lot of factors and make good decisions along the way. Scale certain stuff etc but an average of $5 per blog is very much doable.

Little update

Been doing research on sponsors and keywords. I'm working on a test site to get the hang of it. I should have it up some time later today.

Was wondering if its a good idea to also post a link to the sponsor in the post? And if so do you spell out the sponsors name for the link or just make one of the keywords the link. Cause right now I just have it where the pic links to the sponsor. Just wondering if you see high click rate with a link in the text.

Ok, finished up all my research and sponsor grabs. Also finished up my first site, slow start this morning. Took forever to get to writing, but once I started, it started to take shape. Became a lot easier after the first post, the first leap is always the scariest.

I'm going with black/ebony niches at first, but will branch out to more as time goes on. I'm gonna double up on the sub-niches, so 10 sites and 5 sub-niches.

Ok, so first site is a black teen girlfriend site http://realblackteengfs.com/ Tomorrow, I'll make another one.

from my opinion:

linking from the picture - more traffic
linking the sponsors name or "JOIN [SPONSOR NAME]" - better ratios, less clicks
linking keywords - I use these for internal links

You'll be listed on the trade search results...every time you login to linkspun you get bumped up the list since it shows trades of people that have logged in most recently.

Link Spun is a fantastic tool but you just gotta use the block button and block the people with link farms, spam sites, shitty sites, etc. You'll basically figure out who the good traders are there.

Yup, they will show up in the trade area...just add all of your blogs so people have some to pick from. Wait until you get tons of blogs, then you'll see hundreds of requests every day and curse having to go through them all

Congrats though, your blogs look great...figure out what makes sales and scale up! There's also a forum on Link Spun that has some good advice and V_Rocks is always willing to help.

Yeah, it's easy for people to say you should do micro niches only but try to fill up 300 blogs with micro niches...

I suggest you do both big niches and micro niches. And mix it up a bit.

Yeah I cam to that when looking for black anal, I found like 10 good sites, but when you go to the content, its mostly non-anal, what the hell people

so after a few updates I'll be out of content. So looks like these will be mostly dead sites till I get more content. But I can at least add it to the pile of sites and that never hurts.

They bring traffic but to be honest I've only ever had a few sales with them...I submit my blogs to directories because it seems to get the blogs indexed and ranking fast while the ones I don't submit don't see as much SE traffic for a month or so.

I try to mix it up. I sometimes have the pic link to the paysite tour and sometime it links to a gallery hosted on my blog (this helps with time spent on site and pageviews)

Ratios were better when I was linking directly to the tour, but now with the changes made by Google, I try to keep the surfer longer on my site. This has improved my SERPS a bit, but not my ratios
