Sure the ip change had anything to do with it? Maybe they put you on a black listed one? I've changed ip's on established sites a couple times and nothing happened as far as google traffic.

it's the only thing that has changed lately... hosting changes IP.... 2 days later my traffic is gone...

I have had that traffic for several years... always steady...

And I know... a change in IP should not matter... but again... nothing else changed...

It could be a temporary thing if only 2 days ago. They just want to be sure ownership did not change.

If your blacklisted then you entire listing is not on google and they don't block entire servers unless there is some serious shady stuff going on.

Most likely it will come back shortly, when IP's change if the site has a strong presence it just take a couple days to sync back up.

Are you on a shared host? Could be someone your server is considered being part of a bad neighbourhood.

How did you transfer the sites?

I read somewhere that you should make a copy of you site. Then add it to your new server. Then change the DNS. Once the DNS propagates to the new server. Then deleted the files on the old server.

Hope you get the traffic back soon though.

I transferred nothing... the hosting company did... they have sent me this:

`We are contacting you to inform you that due to a server upgrade the machine where your account is located now has a new IP address:`

that´s all I know... 2 days later.. g00gle traffic 80% gone

BTW, a shared host yes

your IP has nothing to do with your google SERPs

It has been proven time and time again that google only filters by DOMAIN ..

call it coincidence, and go look for the real reason..

I've switched hosts/IPs a lot and never been penalized by google for it.

You could try requesting another IP change (wait a few days first to see if it comes back). If they say no and you're sure its the IP they gave you, move hosts.

idk what it does., but add this to ur htaccess

RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^[0-9]+(\.[0-9]+){3} [OR]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.xxxtreme.com/$1 [R=301,L]

imho it will tell google to use domain and not the ip

Your host probably botched the move and had the old IP (which may have been cached by several DNS resolvers) returning 404s.

If you use google webmaster tools they may give you a clue about what's happened.

ok, seems like things will be fixed after all...

the site was flagged by google, there was probably a virus in wordpress

it's been removed, computers are being checked... google approved the site and SE traffic is starting to come back... NICE

Yes, the IP change had nothing to do with it, it was just a coincidence that traffic disappeared (so suspicious) during the IP change

This.

On one of my sites early last week, Google traffic dropped 70%... 4 days later, it jumped up 300%.. and it's going up every day by about 400 visits per day.

So... don't worry too much.

Google care only about server speed not ip. If the new server is faster than do not worry.

nah, not true, moved hosts many times, often it would take me 3-4 days to move all the sites (so, they are completely down for 3-4 days) and then I see no change in Google traffic at all;

same goes for ip changes - as long as your site is old enough, I don't see how that matters at all and the only exception I can think of is if your site is moved to some malware / shitware infested server
