I just looked around and found that real estate on Bahamas ain't that expensive ( http://www.sarlesrealty.com/listing-...ondo-5904.html ), what's the catch? Hurricanes?

700 Square Feet is not so small.

A property like that down here in São Paulo, on a nice neighborhood costs around US$350.000.

700 sf is a decent size one bedroom with separate dining room.

A family of three or four used to live comfortably in a 1,200 foot house. Only in the last 20 years did they start building bigger.

As far as I know, OP lives alone and can only use one room at a time.

That's not the main island. I haven't been there so I don't know that island or the neighborhood. So it could be a good deal but could also be a completely isolated area that would really suck to live in.
