    Google Keyword Tool & Hyphens?

So I've purchased another domain with a hyphen in it. The Google keyword tool shows the same number of searches with the hyphen as without. Doesn't matter if I add spaces or not. Is the tool not working correctly or does the search ignore hyphens? Am I doing it wrong?

Thanks in advance for any help/info.

I think it ignores the hyphens.

To be honest with you then I first started using this tool I was informed I was doing it wrong by a kind gfyer. Lot of the domain names I own have a thousand or a few thousand searches. When I saw this many searches I couldn't help but question the validity of it all. I just wanted to make sure that was correct. I did have one more thread about how bad hyphens were and someone mentioned to them they were worse than the .net or .org, I am just trying to figure it all out friend. The way my luck is, there would be some glitch and I should cut that number by 80% for the true searches with hyphens, lol. Sorry man

You're being very generous. It's probably higher than 98%.

That's what I am trying to figure out since googles tool gives me the same stats. Is the domain shitty? If i build a decent site and seo'd it, etc..., wouldn't the name have some type of positive effect whether or not people searched with a hyphen? Not to bring xxx up in this but in a previous post someone mentioned searching gay dot xxx and see where it was on google. Its a brand new domain. That being said the question is how much does that hyphen fuck it up lol.

The domain cost what, 7 bucks? I didn't lose much but a little e-peen by posting this lmao. I am asking these questions so I know better next time around.

Thanks for the info, i figured and would never put a hyphen in there, just curious more about how the hyphen affects its possible placement when someone searches voyeur sex. Ive been lurking the buy and sell for a bit and people mention googles tool a lot so i started using it. With info like that though, I don't know how good or bad the domain is with the negatives reviews my other post had regarding hyphens.

A quick answer....because that channel has a ton of crap in it.... google treats hyphens as spaces.

So "bigtits.com" and "big-tits.com" would likely come up different in rankings for different keywords.

Since the panda update, I've been told that using more than one or two hyphens will work against you.

                Does that help?
