I'm honestly not too fluent about Vietnam and haven't studied it. All that I can really tell you about is my father died there as a US Marine when I was nine months old.

There is no such thing as an illegal war. When Japan attacked the US at Pearl Harbor, was it illegal? Of course not. "War is the continuation of policy by other means".

There is, and that is why German and Japanese leaders were put on trial at the end of the 2WW war.
