Why do people cry about police using force so much?

Im really trying to understand this. Maybe its because im dutch that i dont understand this at all.

- people are at a rally demonstrating. Police force is there too, waiting, keeping things under control. The "peacefull demobstration" turns into a riot. Police ask them to stand back and move away. Then those peacefull protesters start to throw bricks, poles, bottles, debri at the police because they have the right to demonstrate. Police starts using force, and everyone starts crying about their rights and how the police wasnt nice.

Off course they arent going to ask you 5 times to clear up tge space and move away. They are protecting the area, homes, stores, etc.

If you accidently get a rubber bullet in your ass because you just happend to stand there to watch the crowds: tough luck. Use common sense, you have your own responsibilities.

Do you think they are going to wait untill they are cornered getting their faces smashed in? They will act proactive. They arent going to ask 5000 people one by one to please go home while bottles are flying over their heads.

How many peacefull protest turned into huge riots? How many cost the state and the people a shitload of money because people wreck the whole place.

Yeah theres probably 90% of them peacefull. And 10% is there to start a riot. If you are on the frontlines you risk getting punched.

Stop crying about it. Theres laws, even when demonstrating. Dont follow them fine, but dont cry about 50 people trying to do their jobs, with 5000 people in front of them.

Wonder what kind of violence YOU would use when you have 100 people raging after you. Guess you would just sit there singing halleluhjahs and asking them to please stop.

Not.

I think what a lot of people forget is that the constitution protects the right to PEACEFULLY assemble. Once the police feel the assembly is no longer peaceful, they break it up ... which usually means using force.

If everyone is standing around singing hippie songs, no one gets hurt. When people are shouting, screaming, it becomes a powder keg, and all it takes is one little spark to set the whole thing off- resulting in a riot.

You just can't get that many people together who aren't even sure what they're pissed off about and expect good results.

You've clearly never been to a demonstration.

It's fine for the police to stand around with shields and batons but as soon as you throw just a single house brick at them they get all violent. So unfair.

The eviction of protesters in Melbourne was a prime example of why people should complain when the police become violent.

It is healthy for there to be a friction between protesters and police, when there isn't it is time to worry. Last century many countries around the world used their respective police forces to repress.

When it becomes the norm for government's to use police to put down dissent then you are in real trouble, it's a slippery slope that history would show descends to oppression.

jus because 1 person throws a rock doesnt mean entire protests should be shut down.

for all we know police or even a right wing person threw the rock just to shut up protests, this country works a bit different than the simple analogy used.

Im not talking about a sinlge rock.
1 simple rock never gets a full out force response.

When people are told to move numerous times and all sorts of debri starts flying through the air you should use common sense and leave.

Lots of protests begin peacefull and a shitload of them turn into violence and people start wrecking other peoples stores, homes, cars etc.

If you are in a crowd doing that and you dont use your brain to get the heck out of it its fine with me, just dont start crying about it being unfair.

it seems european protests typically break out into violence a lot more than american protests. i haven't seen any violence really in the US protests yet the police are still very aggressive. a lot of the footage from europe is pretty crazy though.

Any large group of people can instantly turn into a violent mob and riot, hurt people, kill people, do major property damage and disrupt business etc etc etc etc.

That's why police take it seriously.

Not sure why some people seem to think their so called "rights" means they can trample on the rights of others, put them in danger, destroy property, cost millions in cleanup, added police costs etc.

Protests aren't free. They are expensive as fuck and tax payers nationwide are paying for this idiocy.

Probably because the old bill love a row more than most. They're geared up mentally, and are confrontational fucks. Maybe not at protests, 'cos I've never been to one, but anyone who thinks they aren't a load of cunts that are gagging for trouble to start for a) tension/anger relief b) upping their arrest count, is wearing rose-tinted glasses.

That said, there are plenty of people who deserve a slap off the old bill. It's just this view some have that they aren't also full of lying, violent shitcunts that makes me laugh. A bit, anyway.

"rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law,' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the right of an individual." Thomas Jefferson

some people take the constitution seriously..
