This is what the part of the real 1% look like: "The 400 highest-earning U.S. households reported an average of $345 million in income in 2007"

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?p...d=ahZu17Yy1HvA

That's 345 million in INCOME in a year.
exaactly, no one on gfy is really 1%er to be honest - yes there is wealth but everyone for the most part is still worker bees here, even the owners of programs work and are far from 1%

The idea that increasing government spending will somehow reduce government corruption is so insane as to not be worthy of a counter argument. The idea that people who support more stimulus (otherwise known as government spending) and higher taxes also oppose big government has to be the most Orwellian thing I have ever heard.

We've had higher taxes on the top brackets forever, usually much worse than it is now. Bush is the idiot that started a war while cutting taxes on the rich and even his plan was supposed to expire. Government is required, war and corruption is not. We are supposed to hold these idiots accountable and as soon as someone tries you cry all over GFY. Make up your fucking mind.

I never said the stimulus was a solution.

I don't need a handout at that the stimulus wouldn't help me.

That's why I don't agree with the bailouts.

I never said increasing gov spending would reduce anything in the gov.

Yes, I support helping our States and people with our money vs. spending it wars and bailouts for other countries banks. Once we actually have higher taxes, I will oppose them. Until then I will enjoy some of the lowest taxes we've had over the last 90 years or so.

That could be because jobless vets and others being tossed out of their homes by the very same rat bastards that got a bailout from the US taxpayers are just a wee bit pissed off.

But then again that's just a guess on my part.

Fuck this discussion is funny
People that hate the Tea Party who gathered peacfully

love the 99% who

And the progressives hate and are afraid of this

Untill they see this coming for them

Funny how reality kicks in for people when things don't go their way

Not as accurate, shoot an AR-15, one shot and the next 10 will hit the same spot

People hate the tea party because they are hypocrites. Most of them supported Bush when he burned through the surplus and created more debt than any president before him, yet when Obama becomes president all of a sudden its a problem. Where were they when Bush was giving out bailouts and burning through cash? Masturbating to the Iraq war on FOX News?

I took the same oath.

But you have to define "domestic" and when your facing off the local police with an assault rifle, you need to be very very careful about the words you use.

I think your wrong.

The CNN article talks about the 1%:

Quote:
Think it takes a million bucks to make it into the Top 1% of American taxpayers? Think again. In 2009, it took just $343,927 to join that elite group, according to newly released statistics from the Internal Revenue Service.
Your article talks about the top 400 households and their income. It doesn't discuss the top 1%, and was written over a year ago before the term was a household thing.

IT IS OUR RIGHT TO GATHER AND ASSEMBLE hate it all ya want, but the bill of rights protects us from DOMESTIC ENEMIES too
So what do you expect the soldiers to do? Stand up and slaughter the Oakland police?

Seems the police was dealing with a lot more than just protesters last night:

The city said conditions at the plaza had begun to deteriorate by the second week of the protests, with police, fire and medical responders reporting they were denied access to the plaza for service calls. The city also said it had received reports of a sexual assault and a severe beating, and that sanitation had worsened a rodent control problem in the plaza. Officials also said the plaza was damaged by graffiti, litter and vandalism.

(source: Yahoo news)

So you have a sexual assault, a beating, people crapping in public, vandalism, and graffiti. But you want to the police to just go home?

This is why I can't support this. This is protest with no vision, no direction, no goals, no leadership, who just bitch like little babies - and the only result is they sucking up our tax dollars who have to deal with this crap.

Yeah it's so horrible they invited them back today. None of that is exaggerated at all.

Did you read the article? All CNN did was post a chart to say what the 1% was based off the tax system, the article doesn't prove that at any point. Read the comments, they're saying basically the same thing as me.

The real top 1% have been around for hundreds of years (really longer), they are the reason our Country was founded, they are what the founded fathers EACH warned us about....

It's not really hard to fathom who they really are in the scale of things....

Friends say Olsen had been active in several anti-war veterans groups and had joined Oakland protesters in a gesture of solidarity after learning of the police crackdown there.

Keith Shannon, 24, who said he served with Olsen in Iraq, told Reuters his friend suffered a two-inch (5-cm) skull fracture and brain swelling.

Olsen served two tours in Iraq from 2006 to 2010 with the 3rd battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, Shannon said, adding that he and Olsen deployed together and were assigned to a tactical communications unit.

Yea this was my thoughts as well. It's why I said in the other topic, that the police escalating things in Oakland was a big mistake. The police escalated things when they didn't need to be escalated and now all the other protestors will have to assume the same is coming for them.

It is interesting to see guys that one would assume are more conservative orientated showing up in defense of this movement. I said in the beginning that both the tea party and OWS should find common ground and I almost assumed there were many of the sensible tea party supporters were likely already at these protests. (ie the guys not waving Fox news banners but rather ones wanting actual change)

Lets just hope this doesn't also draw out the crazies that just want to start shit because they think they are cowboys. Once guns are involved it can become ugly very fast. IMO the guns should always be left until there is no other choice.

Don't be an idiot. There always has been a top 1%. And there will always be a top 1%. We can take the top 1%, take everything from them and make them homeless, and instantly we'll have a new crop of people in the top 1% - who will then become the next target.

This is what our founding fathers warned us about huh? Newsflash - our founding fathers were the top 1% back then. Ever been to Mount Vernon? George Washington owned a 500 acre plantation before the American Revolution, and before he became the first President.

It won't be long, aside from Fox News that ran a report saying "what happened to the protester is unknown" there are conservative leaning people speaking out about this. Even Joe fucking Scarborough called it a disgrace. As soon as the knuckleheads have permission from their overlords to say something is bad their story will change. In a week it will be "What happened to him was bullshit and the cops should be punished but these protests are still stupid!"

Oakland PD promised to investigate this as vigorously as they would a fatal police shooting by the way. Let's see how that goes.

Before the internet I seriously had no idea people could be this dumb. I mean I knew some were but not so damn many. 15 years on the www and nothing surprises me.

I sincerely hope the protests spread even further to all major cities in the US, and that the shear # of peaceful protesters grows 20 fold. It is time that the US govt (which serves Oil, Insurance and Banks only) fear its own people, and realize that @ss fucking its own people has to stop.

Those that served in Iraq and are now returning home, dont have good paying jobs waiting for them.

You seem very confused....

I just said we've had them at least 250 years, I know we will always have them, and nobody is wanting to take away everything they have.

Wealth is only "part" of the pie... it is not what defines the 1%. Washington damn sure not part of the 1% back then, he was part of the 99% that split us apart from the 1%. Just because he had money, does not mean he was corrupted - which is one thing the man wasn't.

Our founding fathers were, revolutionaries.... without question.

I noticed you started a bunch of threads that seem to support the OWS movement.

Perhaps you should spend less time online crying about it, and more time physically protesting on location. I'm sure there is one near you.

Common statement towards him. Dude, this guy does his debating by what he can find on a Google search and tries to pass it off as his all encompassing knowledge. Of course his definition of the 1% is the correct one, and fuck CNN and the ACTUAL PROTESTERS who are actually protesting and not behind a computer monitor. It's part of his mental make up, which is broken. When you argue with an insane person, you are at a disadvantage. He will continually change his argument to suit his side of the debate.

But something written over a year ago that doesn't even use the term "1%" is correct?

Also remember it was the Republicans that got the balls rolling on the bail outs then the Democrats finished it off. There is no difference between the parties. Both are equally as corrupt.

The two primary occupy sites, if you will notice they do not call them a tax bracket or define as them tax earners or anything related. They say top 1% wealthiest, at that they do not define the 1% as money alone, it's greed and corruption mixed with it.

It's not like a person making 350k or a few million a year, has any ability to corrupt the system, they are a few billion short of lobbying anything, they can't influence politicians, they aren't writing the rules for the global economy and they damn sure didn't get bailouts.

http://www.occupytogether.org/occupy-wall-st/
"These men and women represent the 99% with the goal of ending the greed and corruption of the wealthiest 1% of America."

http://occupywallst.org/about/
"...the corrosive power of major banks and multinational corporations over the democratic process, and the role of Wall Street in creating an economic collapse....aims to expose how the richest 1% of people are writing the rules of an unfair global economy..."

At this point, cnn, fox, abc, msnbc, etc, etc etc, are all part of the problem, the days of investigative reporting without a bias slant to every little thing is long gone. They report what they see or they give opinions based on the events happening. If they actually reported shit, they would show how the 1% taxable income people couldn't possibly be the greedy corrupted bastards fucking the country over and then define them for lost people like yourself.
