I'm not really a cat person, but a good friend of mine (and his girlfriend) has come up with what I think is a great new product. He's an engineer and he had a problem with his cats ripping holes in the lining under his box spring and hiding in there. He played around with a few different ideas, but this is the one the cats took to the best. The love the thing.

He calls it The Kat Napper

I've seen his cats go nuts over this thing.

Looks like a good idea. He should just try to make sure it works well on all type of bed frames. He should also maybe try to work a deal out with some of those LOL Cat sites for advertising or work out some referral deal.

He should also should patent it..because you can damn sure bet if it starts selling someone will steal the idea and maybe even try to patent it themselves.

He has already filed the patent application. But from what I understand it works with most bed frames. I've seen it at his house under his bed as well as his kids bed. The Cats do like it...

Yeah, I agree. I offered to help him out, but he had another friend do the design. If it takes off, I imagine he will have no problem hiring a pro for this.

Yeah. He said he tried a few other designs that the cats didn't like too well. But now this is their preferred spot in the house.

I have quite a few cats and this looks like a great product to me. I agree with brassmonkey though that there is a little bit of danger in it, imagine what happens if the cat is sleeping in there and kids start to jump on the bed, on the other hand it's still possible to clean the floor under the bed with your vacuum cleaner. So I give this product a 9.
