Dark Fibre Providers ?
Can any of you web hosting people suggest any good wholesale providers of dark fibre in the USA ? I need to set up a private fibre link between Lansing MI to Rochester NY.
Long shot to ask here but not being on the ground in the USA I'm not sure where to start looking. |

You might be better off going to webhostingtalk and ask your question there. You might get better responses. :P
Thanks MrE |

Yeah I've posted the question a few places but there are some switched on US based hosting people here who have just as much chance of pointing me in the right direction.

I've been ringing tier 1 providers left right and centre and none of them have been particularly helpful, one I sat on hold for an hour from Australia , I hung up. I thought Aussie providers were bad, the customer service over there is appalling.

contact me, this is probably 80% of our business these days.
that distance is going to involve regen huts, or really expensive equipment to light the span without enough attenuation loss to lose the signal. Not to mention this isn't going to be cheap if your asking for dark. On paths from ashburn to NYC your looking at 18k/month for the fiber and this is a preset pathway. if your going off path into places unknown you maybe be looking at 30-50k/month for what your trying to accomplish.
