because boxing is a brutal sport and only the poorest and most uneducated class get involved in it to try to escape the ghetto. it's always been that way in American with boxing.
During the first half of the last century it was the Italians, the Irish, the Jews and African Americans who boxed in America. As those ethnic groups moved up the socio economic ladder they pretty much disappeared from boxing. Not many African Americans are going into boxing anymore, boxing used to be THE most lucrative sport for an athlete in the US - football and basketball now are the ticket out of the ghetto for black kids. Hispanics may be a bit different, boxing is more to them than just a way out of poverty, machismo. I'm sure though as Hispanics in America blend in more and get richer that there will be less of them going into boxing.
Boxing in general is dying in the US.

I am a white dood and I grew up involved in all types of sports. No other white guy I knew ever got into boxing. There is your reason. Plus the media has fully emasculated most white guys so there is another reason.
Because all the "white" guys have moved to where real fighting takes place... "White" people tend to be more on the psychotic side and thus boxing with feather gloves and such just doesn't do it anymore.. so they moved on over to MMA...
Heavyweight boxing is fucking shit, and a waste of time.
I'll never pay for a "major" boxing event again. It's either over before it's even started, or it goes the full distance, with hardly any punches thrown. Pointless!

wtf is this lol?
Why are most of the worlds best athletes black? Simply because they are faster and stronger.
Boxing was an integral part of American culture during the first half of the twentieth century, second only to baseball in popularity. It was also a heavily Jewish sport—from 1910 to 1940, there were twenty-six Jewish world champions, and during the 1920s and 1930s, almost one-third of all boxers were Jewish. Drawing on numerous interviews and first-person accounts of the boxers themselves, Allen Bodner offers a vivid portrayal of the important role of Jews in American boxing history, and vice versa. When Boxing Was a Jewish Sport is a must read for fans of the sweet science, as well as anyone interested in the Jewish American and immigrant experience more generally.
So, are you saying that russian white are the same than american white? LMFAO!
Umm.. do you not understand racial grouping? For instance.. application forms don't have "Russian", or "German" on them.. they have "Caucasian". So, in the general sense... yes, US "white" and Russian "white" are the same.....
a puerto rican guy who we use for talent sometimes claims the black man is the fastest there is..
and Mutt: name one jewish boxer who made a name for himself?
there were lots of top jewish boxers in the 30's and 40's - the best known one was Max Baer. the Jews of that era were tough bastards and gangsters, coming from the ghettos of Eastern Europe to America.

As others said, most white guys are fighting in MMA these days. Up here is Mass/CT it's like every other dude I see thinks he's a MMA bad ass. Wasn't that big down in FL when I was last there though but that's likely because there is other stuff to do all year instead of being just stuck inside through the winter.
Boxing on the other hand, I don't think I've even met anyone that was into that in years.

i remember him from the Cinderella man boxing movie, actually pretty good movie if you like boxing flicks..

It's like putting an add out for male talent. You get inundated with blacks & latinos. The white guys just have too much positive stuff going on, like college, a career etc.

Fucking A Right! They get in a clinch and I am wondering why one guy doesn't just take the other down and start the beatings anew. I think it's fucking hilarious how some people still think a pro boxer would kick a UFC guy's ass.

I agree with this too. White people are thrill seekers. They often try the most extreme sports out there. Boxing is a sport of yesteryear. Even though the Klitchko's dominate boxing & they are white.

Now I am a fan of both MMA and Boxing.. but we should get our facts straight.
Boxing vs MMA: The Numbers Game?Who is Really Getting KO'ed?
"Mayweather last year alone sold four million PPV's, one fighter sells nearly as much as the entire UFC in a whole year? I think this one is a wrap up, the UFC is not even coming close to Boxing numbers it only takes a few big megafights a year to drown the UFC PPV numbers. Boxing has never been this popular, the PPV numbers have never been this high and the sport has more multi million PPV sellers right now than any point in its history."
MMA vs Boxing: By the Numbers (Source MMA News Leak )
"If we were to aggregate the rankings and combine the top boxing and MMA gates of all time, an MMA event would not appear until NUMBER 35; just below the Mike Tyson/Razor Ruddick (I) fight in 1991, and just above de la Hoya/Pernell Whitaker fight in 1997."
boxing with feather gloves and such just doesn't do it anymore.. so they moved on over to MMA...
I'd rather box with feather gloves than wrassle with a sweaty dude intent on plopping his stinky man ass on face.
Why anybody wants to watch sweaty men huggin each other is beyond me. The only reason they punch each other is becasue they're trying really hard to prove that they're not completely gay.
I have no problem with gay people, but most of the gay people I know have no interest in hugging a buff, sweaty man on national television.

Umm.. boxing has a much longer history, and is a mainstream sport. Much like "pro" wrestling (even though the only thing "pro" about it is the choreography).
MMA is still relatively new, but has definitely picked up a lot of traction over the past decade.
Comparing financial numbers of a sport that's been around as long as boxing to a sport as new as MMA is just... ridiculous.
But the bottom line is this: real fights happens in MMA.
