Soy Milk

I cleaned out my cabinets, my fridge, and went shopping. I'm trying a new diet. Not to lose weight, but just to eat healthier and put natural foods into my body. Part of the diet I constructed consisted of Soy milk. I was dreading what this stuff would taste like and if I would be able to keep it as part of my diet.

It's better than milk! Soy milk is just awesome! I'm not sure what made me think it would be horrible? But, I'm glad I tried it and it will replace milk in my diet. Don't be afraid to try new things, especially when they are healthy for you!

Are you a guy? Good luck with the tits you'll be growing.

Use almond milk instead.

For breakfast I often eat plain oatmeal with a little vanilla soymilk and a dash of cinnamon. Good and good for you.

That made me laugh, and wonder, so I googled! Apparently you would need to consume massive amounts for the estrogen levels to actually effect a man's body in such a way.

I like to alternate soy milk and oat milk, in place of dairy. My favorite soy milk is the unsweetened West Soy original, nothing in there but the soybeans and water pretty much. I can add honey or whatever to taste, as needed, and I'm not into having it salted like some blends do.

Apparently, from reading some articles (thanks to the manboobs comment ), there is a sugar-free type of soy milk that is notoriously horrible tasting. Maybe that's what you tried? Glad I happened to buy the one that was not sugar-free!

That's a good idea (natural sugars)

I have tried both and personally prefer almond to soy. Don't even try the rice or coconut milk. Watered down shit. I love coconut water and thought the milk may taste good but I threw it away after the first sip.

Good luck on your diet

Depending on why you don't drink milk, you might try taking lactase pills to digest it. I am violently lactose-intolerant, but I can eat a frozen yogurt or ice cream or drink a giant iced latte made with moo cow dairy -- if I take enough lactase. I mostly avoid the dairy, as I don't think my body really knows what to do with it, even when lactase keeps it from actually making me ill, but I like having the pills for the occasional treat.

a male doesn't have to drink much at all to have estrogen effects happen in the body, you might not get gyno but you will get subtle effects long term, I wouldn't drink soy at all personally even though I like the taste of it

Wasnt a healthy desicion... Just ddnt fancy it, didnt buy it, and kinda forgot about it... Then, when I was at a hotel recently, I had my first cup of tea for a year, with milk...

Since then I have drunk 3 pints of Semi Skimmed..

WOOT WOOT! Rock n fuckin roll dudes... I'm LIVING THE DREAM AGAIN lol

I only drink almond milk, tastes great and is good for you, unlike cow milk. They have a vanilla flavored one too.

I do agree with cutting out dairy, if you can't find GMO Free Soy Milk, then I'd recommend Oat Milk

Soy milk is an alright alternative to milk, especially if you are lactose intolerant, but it is not a replacement. If you can't drink cows milk give goat milk a spin, it is much easier to digest and doesn't have estrogen issues so you can drink as much as you want.

Be leery of any dairy haters, a lot of that bullshit kicking around these days. Milk products are absolutely good for you, you can drink lots with only good things coming from it including muscle gain and helps with weight loss. I have been drinking lots of milk all my life and I have never broken a bone or have gotten a cavity and i'm 34 years old, played football for 6 years, used to box, used to wrestle and still quite active today. I have lots of arthritis in my family history and have yet to have ANY symptoms of it myself and i attribute that to an active lifestyle mixed with a diet including dairy.

PR_Glen,

Like you say Soy is not a replacement to milk. 90% of Soy is GMO i.e. Monsanto, so people need to make sure it is Organic Soy they are buying.

I won't get into the dairy debate for now, as it would take far too long, the only thing I'll mention is that cutting out dairy reduces your risk of various cancers. (same with cutting out red meat)

The bit at the end where you use yourself as an example only gives a sample size of one which doesn't help to prove the point (not statistically significant). Arthritis is not something you'd expect at 34, but has been linked to the consumption of dairy
