90 days void checks laying around, now what?
Ive got about 50-80 checks laying around, most of them void because off personal reasons. Is there any way i can get them "resent" with a new date on them? Does this every happen? Or is that generally not accepted and should i just throw them away? Im not an american, so checks are not our typical way of getting money from the bank. |

 | Get a service in the US which will receive and cash the check in your name and then you can withdraw via a MasterCad or something else. Examples are: www.ecoin.cc, INetworks Tech LLC ePayService, MTACC Inc Both are mentioned here: https://gfy.com/showthread.php?t=1033778

 | I've tried getting sponsors to send out a new check when I've somehow lost a fresh one in a drawer or filing for months+, I'd say it works about half the time and ends up not even being worth the hassle of emailing them, waiting for a reply, emailing them again with more details, waiting for them reply and send a new one, waiting for a new one in the mail (doesn't come half the time) and trying to keep track of which one(s) you've gotten and haven't gotten and have to bother them again about, etc etc., it's just not worth it when it's probably some random check(s) from sponsors you pushed just to finish off the minimum payout and ditch.. so you have like a 25% success rate (IMO) of getting another one sent out and a lot of mess to handle, depends on if it's worth your time or not I guess. Edit: you don't live in the US so I'd say 5-10% success rate then? lol, call it a loss and say never again. |

 | I have about 18 laying around here, I hate checks. You should send a mail and ask the companies. Some will tell you to send it back to them, some will tell you to rip it apart and send them a scan, some will just send you a new one.

 | Actually, I've heard that the "void after X days" isn't actually enforced by banks. It would be too much overhead. It's basically just a note to get you to cash the check within a reasonable amount of time. The issuer would have had to put a stop on each of those checks after 90 days which would cost them money. I seriously doubt they would do that. I wouldn't. I'm pretty sure you can cash them. Try with one or two.

 | Sounds like this could be somewhat avoided... 1) Set payouts higher so when you get a check it is worth it to cash it and less of them come. 2) Use a company suggested above to receive your checks and deposit them onto a Visa/MC you can use to spend or withdrawal. Add up all checks and give the sponsor something like: Date - Check Number - Amount 1/8/2011 23433 $123.34 3/29/2011 24455 $134.94 etc... Then total it so they can quickly see what it is and quickly issue you 1 check. |

 | Best way may be to send them back, so they can verify their authenticity then destroy them, rather than having to ask the bank to cancel all of the cheques (with associated fees). Make a copy of each of them for your own records first. |

 | If it were ours, we would ask you to mail them back because even after the 90 days some banks will cash them so we would have put a stop payment either way which costs more than a few stamps. Contact the program and ask, most reputable ones will do it.

 Stale Checks
If a business issues you a check, they are legally bound to pay you. They should issue you a new check, after you notify them of the "stale check." You should notify them in writing with a copy of the check. Should they not replace the check, explain to them, that they will have to escheat the money, to the state treasurer under state's unclaimed property laws. States take these laws very seriously, as they earn interest, until you finally claim your money. Just using this club, usually works as when complain to the state treasurer, they run a full audit on the company. Makes an income tax or sales tax audit seem like fun. Besides getting the escheated funds, states have serious penalties for businesses who don't follow escheatment laws. |

 | I think the easiest thing to do would be to send them back the checks. Its easier for them to tally up what they owe you and they have no reason to waste time canceling the checks as they have them in their hands. But thats just my opinion.

 | I had a check from streamate go past the 90 day period... couple weeks after that a new one showed up without me having to ask and I finally went to cash the new one. Thought that was pretty cool. I had just written it off and I figured any stop payment and reissuing fees would have negated the point of getting the check sent out again. |

Reason I know, I worked for a Fortune 750 company that had a problem of 3000 stale payroll checks, totaling over $500,000., for a company they bought out. My job was research these before having to escheat them to the states. Some had been paid, but many had to be escheated. As I said, states take this seriously. New York state alone has over $24 Billion in unclaimed property. Their daily take on the interest is in the 10's of millions. As we have seen here, businesses in the porn industry don't always follow the law. I'm shocked.

Since I am no longer offering any business services on GFY because of the haters, there is nothing that I can do to help you but I wish there was. Good luck! You will just have to bite the bullet on the heavy charges that Euro banks will charge you to process the checks or paper your walls with them. Sorryl Wish I could help but not helping is what GFY is all about.

 | Most banks don't enforce the 90 day rule if stated on the checks. I've had plenty of affiliates cash their checks after 90 days even though it states void after 90 days. Mark
