What is the most expensive thing you've bought on Ebay?

OK fuckers, lets hear what your most expensive thing you bought through ebay was.

Mine wasn't that expensive, I bought a LCD monitor for $650

$50 for a set of rare japanese comics. It was cheaper than I would expect to pay for them if I found them in a store in the US.

My old job was buying the shit that hangs on the wall in the Hard Rock Cafes around the world. I've bought a lot of cool shit at auction, and the most expensive thing I got off of eBay was a handbag that had belonged to Janis Joplin. The seller was so happy to find out that we were the winners, that she sent it to us before we paid her. I don't think that there are too many eBay sellers operating like that ;)

Forgot the price...$3800

I collect antique quilts and also folkart by Howard Finster. I've probably dropped about $20K over at Ebay, but the most expensive item hasn't been over $500 or so.

$1.800.00 Mac Powerbook, from a guy in Florida.

It arrived in good shape but smelled terrible (he was a heavy cheap cologne user. Blech.

But that was years ago ("those were the days...")...Now I doubt if I'd be that trusting to send a total stranger so much money.

I haven't bought many expensive things on eBay. About two years ago I sold my old Golden Tee arcade game on eBay though. It was Golden Tee 98 so it was out of date but I still got almost $2,000 for it.

How does one buy and sell cars on Ebay and minimize the possibility of getting jerked? Do people actually see/drive the car in person only after they've won the auction?

I just bought a chassis for an Extreme Networks 6808 for $3500... and spent another $8,000 on the rest of the parts from other places. Hell, I think I've spent $20k on Ebay in the last 6 months.

The first thing I bought on Ebay though was the diamond for my wife's engagement ring... 1.3 carat VS1 beauty! Boy did I luck out and get that for a steal.
