Could you sell your "business" if you're a gallery maker?

Let's say you make galleries and you post all of them on your domain name. Your domain has traffic going through it, and you bring in....say, $100,000 a year profit. Should you be able to sell it for 3 times the yearly profit ($300,000), like any other business? Would someone actually buy that business?

So you mean sell it for $50,000 if it makes $100,000 a year?

It depends on what the assets of the company are. If those earnings are from rebills then the company actually has an asset, being those customers. If you made that 100k on a per signup basis, then you are the asset of the company since all customers have been sold to your sponsor on the per signup basis. So if someone was to acquire your company, your gallery skills is the most valuable asset and as such you would probably be required to sign a contract committing to work for x months.

$100k profit per year from galleries? The industry has 10000s gallery builders, the ones than can bring such $ of money at the end of the year only from galleries are more than few. Their domains do not worth a lot since the traffic is temp and in most cases will die within days of inactivity.

OK, in response to the people who are saying that it's just temporary money and what you would be selling is your skills as a gallery maker....

I guess I see the kind of person buying a business like this as someone who doesn't know how to submit and design galleries that will bring in $100K a year on your own. What they would be paying for is not only the current traffic going through your site, but all the galleries on the site, the layouts that bring in money, and the tours you've created. If it's a proven way to make $100K a year, why wouldn't someone who makes $20K a year be interested?

I don't think the fact that they would have to work a couple hours a day means the business isn't worth anything. What business can you buy where you can just sit back and never work?

The gallery spots and partnerships I have are worth a hell of a lot more than a 100k a year.

Because it's not guaranteed. If you can show at least 3 years of history where you did the exact same thing every day (submissions to the same sites, not building new galleries) and made the same amount of money, then you could maybe justify a higher price. But you're talking about most likely a very limited history in a highly competitive market. They could keep it up for a few months but without knowing what they're doing themselves, they've got nothing except a decent gallery layout. 3-6 months profits tops.

I went through this with another company of mine a while ago.
