Why isn't the downgrade the headline on foxnews?

I don't know, but I just went there to see and saw that 22 members of SEALs Team 6 died... single largest loss ever.

They're the one's who took down Osama.

Because Foxnews is a shitty "news"-channel and you shouldn't watch it unless you're a stupid redneck.

That is all they've been talking about since they first broke into their normal broadcast yesterday. Matter of fact, when I last watched it yesterday Neil Cavuto (their lead business guy) was all over the place. Then I tuned in this morning and he was still on and was interviewing the Managing Director of Standard & Poors about them downgrading the U.S.

He told Cavuto that there is a chance we could be downgraded even further in 6 to 24 months unless we do something about entitlement programs (we've known Social Security wasn't going to remain solvent for years...I first heard the debate on it when I was in high school in 1978)

Cavuto then asked him if it was possible to regain AAA status.

The director told him that 5 countries had done that in history. And it took them between 9 and 18 years to do so.

there will be, the Republicans are already blaming Obama and the Democrats are already blaming the tea party and no one is taking responsibility for their role in the debacle

I trained with them in the late 80s (not the same guys obviously) that is a huge loss to our special forces. They will not be replaced easily or cheaply. I feel very bad for their families

That's not what the director of S&P said in his interview at all.

He said that the entitlement situation and the political situation in the U.S. made it appear that we just aren't going to really address the debt issue.
He said that they gave our govt. the numbers: 4 trillion needed to be cut to show that we were serious about it.
And then the final deal was far short of that. So they don't believe the U.S. is serious enough about reducing debt to be able to justify that golden AAA rating.

That's what I said up above in my post about the interview with the director of Standard and Poors that I watched this morning.

He said that politically the U.S. didn't have the ability to do what needs to be done to service the debt in a way that is worthy of a AAA rating.

I personally think that if we had ANY strong leaders at all in Washington that we could have at the very least said "Fuck those wars" and pulled all the troops out NOW from Afghanistan and Iraq.

That would save hundreds of billions right there. And also would have saved those Navy Seals who died today for absolutely no reason at all.
And then maybe announce we are FINALLY going to pull out of Germany and Japan since we won WW2 60 freakin' years ago. And maybe stop bombing Libya while we're at it.

That would have to make some kind of a dent I would think and show that we're serious.

Hell, we spend all of our money being the "policeman of the world" and these other countries don't have to spend anywhere near that kind of money so they get to have nice stuff like national healthcare (and NOT ObamaCare where we are all forced to buy insurance).
