What kind of 90s model vehicle has the best stock speakers?

A friend of mine owns a salvage yard with about 1000 cars... he is letting me pull some 6x9s to use in my car.. I know I don't want any out of Cadillacs and I thought Pontiacs usually have pretty good speakers...

Thanks

depends on options the car had. for instance, the speakers in an accord with an upgraded factory system may be better than the speakers in a bmw

Think about how much technology has changed in 20 years and how the price of this technology has come down. You are really better off going to Crutchfields or Best Buy. Though you could probably snag a great cassette player while you are there.

Why are you always looking for an edge?

By the way, you and your friend could make a small fortune parting out those cars and selling online. My dad is a mechanic and he buys parts like that all the time, for good money, and it's basically "free" to the junkyard. The only problem is someone needs to do the labor, that's where you step in since you are obviously broke.

After you strip the vehicles of parts, the frames are worth a fair little chunk as well.

Intrepid and concordes used the infinity 6x9 speakers in their LX models. They actually pound quite hard when pushed with a proper amp/deck.

You're kidding, right?

Stock stereo components in all cars are shit no matter how much extra people pay for them. The amps are shit quality which mean they cause clipping which slowly ruin the drivers of the speakers. They were probably played too loud and damaged by heat, cold, moisture, etc. They are not worth anything.

You would be much better off treating yourself to some brand new speakers.

For all you know many of those cars might have aftermarket speakers in them. Why are you looking for stock stuff?

Lexus I think had the Nakamichi systems back in late 90's. Those sounded pretty good.

Otherwise don't be such a cheap fuck and just go to an audio store.

I tell him the same thing.. I even offer to pay cash upfront for the parts so I could resell them

He likes to have his guys strip everything to hell and sell it

But they'll never get to them all

Like a couple of people have said.. I think some Pontiacs had really good speakers in them... The reason I am pulling some that I can have for free is that I can't be spending extra money on something I don't need, right now

You can get them out of a-lot of the nineties Cadillacs, too, I just don't know if they'll work with a regular deck.. They have all of these fancy amplifiers and digital this or different that..

That is true.. you can wreck speakers quicker by under powering them than by over powering them.... clipping sucks!!

I don't need some super hifi setup - just a normal 45x4 deck with a good power supply in it and a couple of decent 6x9s and I'm good

i can assure you a 1975 pontiac le mans did not come with good speakers. so just walk on by...... sweet car nonetheless.

also, 6x9 is pretty old shape eh, didn't cars in the 80s+ start doing more round speakers?
