I just bought an 8GB MacBook Pro i7 .... and changed out the hard drive for the Seagate Momentus XT 500 hybrid SSD/HHD ....
This is the fastest machine I have ever worked on ... BAR NONE!! I can boot into OSX 10.6.8 in 12 seconds from power on, and into Windows7 (Bootcamp) in 22 seconds! Worth every cent ... and I AM NOT an Apple Fan Boy ... I love my Windows7 and Linux machines too ... Each serves different purposes.
