Why would you smoke 2 packs of any kind of cigs at one party though? You crazy...

It's the Philippines, no one cares about any laws here anyway, so I guess not much will change

So they aren't banning smoking in all of the Philippines. Just a city. And just in public places.

It's like this nearly everywhere now.

Smoking alone in your car should be allowed. Smoking outdoors in an area where there are only other smokers and no one else OR you are far enough away from other people that it's a non-issue then you should be allowed to smoke your brains out.
The dilemma is most people who smoke in their cars open their windows.

The funny thing is Manila is one of the most polluted cities in the world. They should ban jeepneys and the 100yr old busses instead.

But again, the long-term health fallout from smoking IS a huge drain on any society that allows it, so expect harsher and harsher anti-smoking laws in more and more countries as time goes on.

It's just the way times are changing, and frankly I support it.
Agree. No better time to switch to a Bull Smoke.

But will they enforce the law?

That's the problem with most of the developing countries. They pass laws that are never enforced or only enforced for a short period.

When I read about the new smoking laws in the Philippines I was concerned for the human rights of this poor chap, but then I remembered he lives in the Indonesia so will be unaffected by the ban

Sort of... If you'e been here you know that the "enforcers" are just looking for bribe money. Thought this is not a law yet, they tried to get bribe from a friend of mine that was smoking in his car but not on one of the areas covered by the law and the law is not even in effect yet.
