Why are you guys so obsessed with .xxx?

Serious question, so trolls nothing for you here.

    It's happened.

You have zero effect, influence or decision making power on where it goes from here. It never was in your hands, never will be and you live with what happens or get out of online porn.

If it becomes mandatory, by any means, then you need to get all your adult domains, you want to keep, registered .xxx. This will clear out a lot of the chaff in online porn. People who can't afford it can make sure the door doesn't hit them in the butt as they leave. those who can will pick up what little business they have.

If it never becomes mandatory, then why sweat? It's a nothing event.

You have far more important things to concern you. Online porn is getting harder and you need to work harder, cleverer and more focused on what really matters and things you can effect the outcome of.

And not getting into a sweat over something that really you don't have any effect over.

The ICM Registry wants to pretend that they represent us, that they speak for us, that they are the ones that represent "responsible adult businesses",...

Well, the ICM doe snot represent me, so I intend to let the whole world know that the ICM does not speak for me.

The ICM has an incentive to lobby to make the use of .xxx domains mandatory.

Well, I'll do whatever it takes to prevent this from happening.

Their entire business model is based on spreading FUD and benefiting from it. Their entire business model is unethical.

Well, I'll boycott companies like that.

The ICM has on several occasions lied to us, to ICANN, to the media.

Well, I'll make sure people won't forget that.

Does this cost time? Yes, of course. et alors?

        Which is zero.

Yes boycott them, but don't expect it to make any difference.

I understand the anger, but spening time, money or thinking about it isn't making you money. It's losing you money.

Wouldn't it be nice to be in a business where you could make clients do what you wanted them to?

Yes we dream about it, but fuck if it happens to us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Obviously, some of us believe we can make a difference. If you aren't willing to fight and protect your freedom, then you don't deserve the privilege of having it.

GFY members have the power to influence the success or failure of ICM Registry / .XXX with their wallets and credit cards. If we stand together and boycott .XXX, we reduce the amount of money ICM has in their war chest to push their agenda. If we keep .XXX discussions on the top of people's minds, we can educate those who are ignorant of what is happening and prevent them from being coerced into buying .XXX.

We were able to delay the approval of the .xxx tld.

We were able to educate people about the dangers involved.

                We have exposed their lies.
                ...

Every $ we don't spend registering .xxx domains, is a $ the ICM won't be able to use against us.

Every anti .xxx post we make, raises the costs for the ICM.

Agreed, but this isn't about freedom. That's protected in your bill of rights.

If GFY members or the porn industry could effect the outcome I would be all in favor of spending time to fight. After all the attempts to block .xxx it went through, so no effect there. People wil register .xxx if they see a financial benefit, not for some vague effect it might have on whether it lasts. The idea of online porn organising itself is funny though. Strange how people still believe it could happen.

I think .xxx will die because it won't get taken up in the numbers they expected. And the odds on it being mandatory are long. That might get challenged under Freedom of Information laws.

Don't you think IFFOR is a potential threat to your freedom in a business sense, if they are allowed to draft rules that govern our industry?

All past attempts to block .XXX did have an effect. It delayed approval for years and made ICM Registry waste millions of dollars in legal fees. While ICANN did eventually approve .XXX, it's ultimate future success or failure rests with whether or not people spend money on it. If we as an industry can show strong opposition to adopting .XXX, then domain speculators will also not spend money on .XXX because they won't see an opportunity to resell the domains.

ICM Registry hasn't openly admitted it, but many here believe that is ICM's evil intent.
