In Jay and Connor's defense - they had no idea that Nalem was shooting for .XXX until they arrived in San Francisco. They were mid-travel when it was announced.

In defense of all the shows that allow ICM to participate - there is no benefit to keeping them away. Attempting to sweep them under the rug by pretending they don't exist, not only won't make ICM go away, it WILL serve to make us complacent about it as an industry.

And - as much as I really hate .XXX - in defense of Vaughn Liley - he's a decent guy who has some serious balls to keep showing up to every show and tell his side of things - and for the most part, does so with tremendous grace.

I suppose my point is - you all hate on the "sellouts" now - because they're in your face - which keeps the issue in your face, and that's a good thing. Once people stop talking about it - or it gets swept under the rug, complacency about the issue itself will set in - and that is when the REAL threat of .XXX can begin to become a reality.

Well stated Andrea :thumbsup

ThumbLord 06-29-2011 03:52 PM

Well Julius should be the only one shooting pics/video's for any convention.
He is/should be the only one be allowed to cover any serious webmaster access/convention.

Easy as 1,2,3, just one official press coverage, thread closed.

OK let the flaming be started.

Why is that?

ThumbLord 06-29-2011 04:06 PM

well Baddog and other would-be "reporters", I do not mind you taking a picture/movie from me, but publishing it on the web is not what I desire, so without my approval you are violating my privacy.

Then I suggest you read what you sign, and if you find a photo of yourself that you want taken down, notify the website owner. :2 cents:

ThumbLord 06-29-2011 04:13 PM

No it is the other way around, you are NOT allowed to show my picture on the web without my approval.
And if you do NOT take this seriously just check the Dutch Law about it, before entering my country.

Do not try to be clever old man, the Dutch Law is on my side, just give me a reason to get you burned.
Just publish one picture on the web without my approval and ..................

I do not want anybody except Julius to publish any pictures/footage of me during any adult event on Ze Interwebs, period

Unbelievable.
:2 cents:

Quoted for unequivocal truth. You don't want to know what I would say if ever asked to describe the majority of the Industry in 1 word.

ThumbLord 06-29-2011 04:50 PM

well GlobalCorp I do wanna know what you would say to describe the majority of the Industry and ok you can use more words then 1.
so go ahead.

baddog 06-29-2011 04:56 PM

To anyone that does not want their photo taken by me, simply come up and request that you not be photographed. I will tell you that I will do my best to avoid you, and if you are caught, simply request the photo be removed.

However, it is also your duty to not pose in group photos. This method is proven to work.

ThumbLord 06-29-2011 05:07 PM

well Baddog, you still do not get the picture, pun intended.
we should not ask you, again take any picture you want but do not publish in on the web without approval, so ........... enjoy the European Shows and take any pictures you like but DO NOT PUBLISH them without written approval.

GlobalCorp give me the one or more words please

Don't want to take away from the thread, but BF's post pretty much sums it up. Complete unorganization is so disgustingly childish.

I don't know, or even understand enough about .xxx to comment on that one way or the other in regard to NALEM, but as usual, this is the most idiotic thing to do. Wouldn't expect anything less at this point.

Do what you have to do and I will do what I have to do. Simple.

ThumbLord 06-29-2011 05:11 PM

well that was more then one word. but heh get your point.

ThumbLord 06-29-2011 05:13 PM

ok Baddog so we have an understanding now, you take my pic and publish it without my approval on the Internet and I get you arrested before your plane leaves?

Or in the case you leave my country first and then publish any pic of me without my approval, I will first go after you, your assets and then ofcourse the pics.

My advice is very simple. enjoy the show(s) and let JFK do his thing and try to find out the european laws about privacy before you act.
end of discussion.

baddog 06-29-2011 05:38 PM

Knock yourself out. I put up my pics at the end of each day so that should make it easy on you.

There's no benefit in being nice to them either. Their entire business model is based on spreading FUD and profiting from it. Since the very beginning they've been lying to us, to ICANN, to the media,....

why do you think they keep going to conferences? To try and convince us to buy .xxx domains? Wrong! They go to conferences because they want to be able to pretend and trick politicians into believing that they are not only part of this industry but also represent it.

We need to keep fighting them. Keep posting "fuck dotxxx" in every ICM/.xxx related thread. Keep posting comments on news articles. Keep telling the truth. Keep exposing the fact that the ICM does not represent us. Keep exposing the fact that the ICM has lied to us on several occasions. Continue to shun people who do business with the ICM.

We need to keep ignoring those defeatist comments that this industry is lost and can't organize. We don't need to "organize" at all. What we need and what we have is personal initiative. We have shown that thousands of adult webmasters can take the initiative to open their email client and email ICANN. We have shown that hundreds of webmasters can take the initiative to tweet like hell against the .xxx tld. We have shown that webmasters will take the initiative to flame any GFY user who thinks it might be a good idea to accept money from the ICM.

And we need to keep in mind that they (hte ICM) are one of our enemies. And you don't work with your enemies. You fight them. you don't offer advice on how they might be able to improve their product. You fight them.

If someone wants to rape you in the ass, you don't tell him "please use some lube so the whole experience will be less painful". Instead, you take a machete and defend yourself!

At no point did I suggest that anyone should work with them, nor did I suggest that anyone even needs to be nice to them. (Them being .XXX OR Nalem) I am personally very firmly against .XXX. Hell - I was at the San Francisco ICANN meeting in March. My choice to behave civilly toward individuals has nothing at all to do with my opinion of the product they're selling.

Ultimately I think you missed my point. I think the outrage that we see displayed here is a good thing as it keeps the issue at the forefront of peoples minds. My concern with all the talk of banning anything at all to do with .XXX from shows, from boards, etc - is that if it isn't in our collective faces - it's easy to say, "Meh, not seeing it now, so it's a non-issue." In this scenario, complacency is just as, if not more detrimental than FUD tactics, IMO.

Most shows have you sign a waiver that pics will be taken and published and that you agree to it. Ours included.
