Hi, I got a .cz (Czech) domain through Forpsi, a local domain registrar. I pointed its DNS to my server in the U.S., but most of the computers in the Czech Republic can not view the site, instead they are getting an error message, and only through an online proxy services (like anonymouse.cz) the domain shows the site. When the IP address is typed in the address field of a browser, the site shows, but through the domain it does not show, even though the domain is pointed to the same IP address. I contacted that registrar several times, but they are saying that they are only a registrar and there are no problems on their side. Instead they recommended to contact ALL the Czech ISP's or find the problem with my server. I do have more sites on the same server, and they all show in the Czech Republic through their .com domains, so, I don't really think the problem is with the server. Please help with this strange .cz situation. Andy

Hi papill0n, thank you for your help. I just did resubmit the same name servers to the registrar, and the changes should be noticable within 24 hrs, but again, the domain worked when used with some "anonymiser" (proxy), as if someone blocked that domain from use in Czech Repoblic.

I had the same issue with Forpsi - .cz and .com domains. Their support was useless. Ended transferring to another company - never had the trouble again.

Nop still just you looking stupid In case if you wonder why i calling you stupid,it's because you said to get REAL domain, probably a com extension(since this thread is about extension). And when it comes to targeting local market,it's always better to get local extension then com or any other extension because it gives trust to visitors and also it gives much better ranks on search engines. So in shortly if you target local market of some country only, then it's mandatory to get extension of that country.

Hi PiffStenis, thank you for your reply. 1. I paid them for 5 years in advance, so, if I transfer to another company will I lose the payment? 2. As I was looking for a .cz registrar last year, not too many companies were dealing with it, and they all were in Czech Republic. 3. A Czech guy showed me some German sites (.de) which he had to view only through that anonymouse.cz site, he was saying that the reason was that the actors are Czech, and that's why they were "blocked" in Czech Republic, but I think the problem was with something else... 4. So, I'm still not sure that the registrar is the problem, but if it is, which one should I transfer the domain to? Thank you. | |
