My parents were extremely strict and loved to dish out the discipline. Maybe it helped me turn out well or not, it's hard to say. It did teach me to lie better and hide things that I knew would set them off. To this day though I've always hated my father.

Because it hurts and causes long term brain damage. You should know this, the kids act how they are brought up. Parents shouldn't beat their own creation. They tend to take after their parents anyway.

It is much more then people/organizations. It is the general mentality of society. What used to be private in the home is now open for all to see and evaluate and judge.

My daughter who is in 4th grade writes down in a school journal what she did over each weekend. It is the entire school that writes in these journals. The teacher reads and decides what should go to the counselor and what deserves a smiley.

All of my neighbors who have kids my daughters age are at the bus stop with them bright and early each and every morning. Why?? Because of the boogie man? Bc it is to protect? Wtf! None of this shit I grew up with and it saddens me the general mentality of society acts like this.

To reiterate, most parents don't want to spank, but sometimes that just well be the thing to do at that time.

I think it's fine, as long as you're a loving parent. For example, take a 3 year old showing a screwdriver in a light socket. Do you really think he's going to give a shit if you sit him down, try to explain things to him, and maybe give him a time out? Probably not. Mom gets probation for spanking own child...

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX (KTRK) -- A Corpus Christi woman was sentenced to five years probation for spanking her own child.

Rosalina Gonzalez pleaded guilty to a felony charge of injury to a child charge after reaching an agreement with prosecutors, according to KZTV in Corpus Christi.

Gonzalez was arrested in December after her mother noticed some red marks on her granddaughter's butt and took her to the hospital to get checked out.

Although prosecutors say Gonzalez didn't use a belt and didn't bruise the child, a judge made it clear that spanking isn't allowed.

"You don't spank children today. In the old days, maybe we got spanked, but there was a different quarrel. You don't spank children. You understand?" Judge Jose Longoria said.

"Yes, sir," Gonzalez said.

On top of her probation, Gonzalez also will have to take parenting classes, follow CPS guidelines and make a $50 payment to the Children's Advocacy Center.
