Apple is one of the only companies around that requires good working conditions at it's Chinese factories. They regularly tour them and I believe the suicide stats are way lower than for other factories.

Its slave labor paid in pennies and the labor involved is skilled labor. Which should amount to proper living conditions and housing in any civilized country with any decency. Taking advantage of those poor folks just because China does not give a shit about them does not make a viable excuse.
