Instead of taking over Amps thread, I started a new one.

Gman brings up a good point. How many affiliate programs have 'Since 96, since 97' on them, but they brand new hahahaha

I see many people say they started in 1997.

What did you do in 1997?

I set up Live cams in New Orleans for an early paysite doing a 'Dorm Room' cam hiring girls and paying them to sit on cam as if it was a dorm... the site went bankrupt and i moved to California. It was no loss for me, I was paid up front and kept all the equipment.

I then helped start the first 'Free Internet Cafe' there, installing a t1 for 6 boxes of free use at a coffee shot in an Art Museum, with donations from local companies and art centers, along with the famous 'Bourbocam' on Bourbon Street in New Orleans above the 'Cats Meow' Club... This was from 97 - 98. I hadnt gotten into 'webmasterin' yet, but would eventually.

Where were you?

Lets hear it old timers.

I started in 96 with Adultcheck, then moved to Agecheck (cyberage) then started my own AVS. Now i get to act like a goofy pirate all day.

CDSmith 10-30-2005 08:14 PM

In '97 I was just learning how to turn a computer on.

Started my first site in '98, and by early '99 "CD's Models on the Web" was born. Later than year I said goodbye to the job and went full time, and have never looked back.

Hi.

Damian_Maxcash 10-30-2005 08:24 PM

'97ish - I had just arrived in NZ and me and a friend found Real AVS - I had messed around with Front Page a bit so we built some sites together. They were REALLY bad. Really, really bad.

It didnt seem to matter though, the cheques rolled in anyway. UGAS was the big earner for us back then and then GMP. A few hours of AVS building a day and we easily did $4-5,000 a week.

We showed a load of friends how to do it - It was a small place, and in the end every fag in the town was in the money.

Happy days.......

Record created on 07-Dec-1996.

Thats when I got my first domain name.. Promoted ClickCash at $.02/click back then.. Get a site listed on PK and watch the traffic roll in :)

I actually did start in this business in 1997.. Of course, at that time I knew absolutely nothing so most of 1997 was learning about the business.

I spent a week during November 1995 in the ICU of a heart unit. That slowed me down a lot, but workaholism isn't something you lose easily, so in late spring 1996 I was fiddling around with some "public domain" content and "Learn HTML in 21 Days".

A couple of hours later I had produced my first Adult Check site, but although a check arrived after a few weeks, I didn't take it seriously. In those days I was running some major IT projects, enjoying the work and being paid very well for it. Then a few months further along I realized I couldn't take the stress any more: visiting 11 countries in 2 weeks threatened to finish the job from the previous November, so I "retired" into online porn and I'm just about here still...

1997 ?
was having some TGP's and making bank

vicki 10-31-2005 09:00 AM

I was building AVS sites and a little free site that became pretty famous, it was actually a design that was "copied" (cough, cough) to become the first ever '4 free' site. Thats when I learned the hard way NOT to trust everyone in the biz lol

Those were indeed the days, AVS', YNOT and per click ruled, TGP's weren't around yet so it was sooo much harder for the newbie AOL surfers to find free porn pics. AAAaahhhh AOL surfers ... we all loved them guys didn't we? hahaha

hmm notice anything interesting about the posts by TRUE old timers? post counts are pretty low (for the most part)... the majority of the GFY posters would consider us noobs ROFL

how many of you have ARS codes with only 5 digits?

hova 10-31-2005 09:23 AM

In 97 I started learning about the adult buss, some time later (6 months or so) I was submitting galleries.........

Axeman 03-04-2006 02:00 PM

I started in 96, met Dr. Shap and in 97 we started a paysite and then went to work for Xpics remotely, easy side coin there. Ran a site called cyber-babes which was a nude celeb site and make great coin with Anders.

So much really going on during that time. 98 may have been the year Dokk showed us the way to exploit the shit out of altavista etc.

Xpics was a joke of a company that the FCC came down hard on, but it made a ton of money for alot of people, and the quality of employees that were working there and went onto big things is pretty impressive.

in 97 i was just a kid looking for porn

Probono 03-04-2006 04:25 PM

Dreamnet.com online since 1997 but it was cyberdreams.net in 1996. Proves how little I knew about picking domain names.

I was spamming newsgroups with my AVS sites and making a killing in the process

gfx3 03-04-2006 04:43 PM

Late '97 I got my first computer and went on the internet for the first time. I think my startpage was ibm.com or something. Didn't use the internet a lot back then, it was very expensive with dial up connection 1.5 $ per hour I believe.

Maureenoz 03-04-2006 07:33 PM

In 1996 I had moved to Australia and needed to earn US dollars because I was only a visitor. We bought larissa.com and created fake amateur sites from photos we'd pinched off newsgroups.

At the bottom of every page we said, "if you're a sexy woman and would like your own site.. " We had one site that was doing big dollars with Validate and one day the woman in the pics wrote to us and asked us to create a site for her. We took the fake site down in 2 seconds! (she'd found the link on another page)

We started SexyAds in 1997 and didn't have time for any of the other stuff. The first person to join our affiliate program was Gramma.

Jayde 03-04-2006 08:00 PM

I started my site in 1997 as a directory on some one else's server "made with Jayde". I was still learning all about the internet and was too trusting back then. It took me several years of being screwed over and being stabbed in the back to get wise. I ran my site under the domain name http://www.scorpionsting.com until I finally changed it to http://www.hotindianbabe.com which was the best thing I did for it. :thumbsup

Pornopat 03-04-2006 08:30 PM

I tried to study psychologie at University but was distracted by The Internet providing me with free porn.
