Up the road here, still not working. This might be leaving a lot of people with egg on their faces.

The only hope they had was enforced use of .xxx, now it seems more and more likely that will never happen.

Nice graphic message Paul.

This is starting to look a lot like the Sony PSN PR nightmare. If the ICM registry is unable to keep a handful of .xxx domains online, it's safe to say they won't be able to handle the (alleged) hundreds of thousands of preregistered .xxx domains.

as amusing it would be: i don't think they are gone forever. but i am curious why so far none of the news sources published a single word about it

I don't know.

I remember when epass had it's visa account on hold. That told me all I needed to
know and I just watched people on this board be fools thinking it was coming back.

The fact that they announced it was live and now it's not working is very very
significant.

No way an entire TLD goes down for days.

When did that ever happen?

Why would anyone go buy 10 domains at $130 each after seeing that it could all go
down like this for days?

It might come back up, but I wouldn't bet a dime on that unless new laws were
passed. "Somebody" wants something and they are going to get it before xxx goes
back up.

PS : It's not on the news because this is only news to us.
The public doesn't give a shit about this. This does not affect the
public in anyway whatsoever.

Good point because all government agencies and internet entities report to them right away.

Most of the families in this country finds legitimizing pornography to a sex only tld utterly disgusting.

Perhaps the reason major media playing mute on the subject, is to pass an agenda with little attention.

Fact: There is a demand for these domains. People will buy them. So when there is a chunk of money out there with people ready to pay, someone will make it happen. Nothing will change that.

However, these douche bags who want to use shady companies and fees to make it happen are the problem. If not for that, they would have launched it long ago. It's just another fucking domain extension, geez. It's not like google doesn't ALREADY filter sites. By default, too.

I wonder what the scoop is though. Some assholes are being greedy.

Yeah, now I remember all those tea baggers with their "No .xxx" protest signs.

When did you interview most of the families on your block; much less the country?

It's true because you said it. Yeah.

Is someone getting anxious about wanting to use their brand new .xxx domain?

make it just another TLD like .mobi for $7.99 a year per domain and no one would care

but their bullshit agenda regarding child protection, the scare tactics, the pricing and the extortion that comes with ICMs strategy makes me upset

Yes. ding ding, win.

But some of us actually do care about kids accessing our sites. AND KIDS DON'T HAVE FUCKING CREDIT CARDS!

And really, it's not like they put strip clubs in malls too, people who want to actually buy porn will find their way to these .xxx sites. It will take about five minutes for a surfer to learn that and figure it out. I would love to see foreign countries and kids get filtered out. Maybe conversions will be better.

Perhaps it is because I am female and have a kid too I like the idea of an adult internet district. I don't think I'll let her touch the net til she is 18.

Gee, for a tld to have taken 11 years, an American president that blocked it, world govt's always intervening to stop it, ICANN breaking its rules to finally allow it, seems a bit unusual for just a "regular" tld's passage. Especially since most of the moms and dads in the US all support the classy Triple X domain, for its beautiful double penetrations, and its excellent piss & shit videos.

But thats a good idea with the Tea Party. Cause we all know how much they hate anything that the govt. tries to regulate. Do i hear consolidation of the web?

As an individual, you have the right to filter out foreign traffic on your servers.
As an individual, you have the right to put whatever access restriction and age verification system you want in place on your sites.
As a parent you have a moral obligation to prevent you children from being exposed to inappropriate content. You have the right to install filter software on your computer. You have the right to compare the efficiency of different types of filter software. You have the right to talk to your children and make them aware of the dangers associated with using the internet. You have the right to monitor their activities.

However, you as an individual have no right whatsoever to tell other individuals how to run their sites. You have no right to force sites owned by other individuals into a type of online ghetto.

Personally, I've been adding safe surf, rta and other tags to my sites for years. Parents who want to block access to my sites (so their children can't visit them) can do so with 100% accuracy. if those parents want to be able to watch porn and visit my sites in the evening when their children have gone to bed, they can simply turn off their filter software and do so.

In the end it's all about personal responsibility. There's a huge difference between a parent deciding what his children get to see online and what he gets to see in the evening and forced censorship.
