:stoned DVD audio problem

I bought this new DVD surround system and on ALL the DVDs I try to play, I cannot hear the voice track. All sounds/music and background voices are ok but I can never hear the people talking.

I tried changing the DVD setting to French and it worked :/

Anybody have a clue what I can do to make the damn thing work?

Thanks

However you set it up, you aren't hearing the center channel. The reason it works in french is because that is almost always in stereo, not 5.1.

How many speakers do you have? Do you have a receiver?

5 speakers and the DVD/subwoofer has a built in receiver/amplifier.

You need to go into the setup menu, if it has such a thing, and make sure you have a center channel selected. Then double check to make sure you have the actual center channel speaker connected properly.

You're definately not hearing the center channel for some reason.

It should have an option to run test tones to each speaker. (sounds like static) Run that and see if you hear sound coming from your center channel.
