I'm just curious what the international community think of the U.S. when they see all of the celebrations on the 24 hour news channels and comments about the death of Bin Laden. Including the, almost at times cackling, about this man being shot in the head.

Last night while watching the news, and listening to some of the comments, it made me wonder.

5 may, big celberations in the whole country

So i would say, that could be better. I think you should organise a festival.
"Bevrijdingsfestival" is even bigger than Queensday.

Nowadays it is more a "Freedom Festival" cause WWII is something of the past and more people died in wars.

I find it's hypocritical to be talking about justice when you've just killed someone for supposedly committing a crime without a trial.

In my opinion the U.S. pretty well had the events of September 11 2001 coming to it. For years it has meddled in regional affairs around the world and caused a great deal of suffering to people in third world countries for mostly political gain.

9/11 was just the bloodying of a bully's nose. As long as the U.S. imposes it's political will on those who want to decide their own affairs then there will be people like Osama Bin Laden who capitalize on the ill feeling many people around the world hold for the US.

I personally believe Osama Bin Laden ordered the 9/11 attacks, however nobody ever asks why he was successful in having the order carried out.

The only thing I find sad is that they always say 3000 people lost their lives on 9/11. I really think every rescue person that lost their lives since 9/11 due to related sicknesses from being there should be recognized as people lost on that day.

Actually there is no 24 hour celebrations about Bin Laden on the Russian TV channels because his dead is no actually affects the country (not too many people here who cares), so everything we know: he has been killed by the US special forces (bombed and/or shoot in the head) in his residence in Pakistan.

This news is not on 1st or even 3rd place by popularity here

I don't know why, but personally to me chanting "USA USA USA" was always associated with "Rambo III" and it's famous afterword.

Perhaps it's came from the USSR time when I saw a news report about new (for that times) anti-soviet movie and saw a crowd the US rednecks chanting "USA USA USA" as they were entering or leaving (don't remember this thing to say for sure) theater before (or after) the "Rambo III" movie. I don't know about DC or NY, but here in Miami, it's just another day. It's certainly not the whole country having a party, that's for sure.

Same here in Chicago. I'm in a popular neighborhood and people were going into bars to watch the news last night and most people were happy to hear the news, but there was no partying in the streets there or anywhere else in the city that I knew of.
