Players usually don't expect to get smashed through center ice a solid 10 feet after they've gotten rid of the puck.

I never said it wasn't a dirty hit - and I hate the Canucks. Thought I made that clear.

Once you pass the puck, keep your head up, be aware, and get into position. Don't sit there and watch it gracefully slide to your teammate. He chose to watch the pass complete instead of changing directions, and it might cost Boston the cup. Horton is a fucking idiot.

Scott Stevens would have ended his career decade ago.

It doesn't matter whether the hit was dirty or not - that's irrelevant. If Horton kept his head up and was aware of his surroundings, he would still be in the series.

It was a shitty, dirty hit. Doesn't matter. He's gone - out of the game.

Really? Luongo is yet another Vancouver pussy crying about the lack of respect he gets. He's the LeBron James of hockey - in his mind, he can do no wrong.

If the Canucks win the cup, it won't be because of Luongo.

Similar situation, the guy was finishing his check and wasn't just going to let him go or "change his mind" like that idiot joe was suggesting. Shit like this happens so fast you don't have time to change your mind or let him go by.

You clearly keep ignoring the biggest factor that got him suspended. I've posted it before, but look up rule 48.

Here is what should have happened: http://youtu.be/79M3sRWclA4?t=13s Higgins was looking roughly the same left direction as Horton. Seidenberg comes in, shoulder down, hits him in the chest, and the downward motion of the check forces him to lose his balance.

Rome stops, bends his knees and launches himself into Horton's head.

Which one is the right way to hit, which one is the wrong? I'll give you a hint. One guy nearly got his head taken off on one play.

Actually, it very much matters if it's a dirty hit. If it wasn't a dirty hit, Horton would still be playing. Your rational is like someone getting t-boned by a drunk driver running a red light clearly breaking the law and trying to blame the now paralyzed victim by saying if he slowed down and looked both ways before crossing a green light, he'd still be walking.

That's bullshit to me, and it's shocking people like you actually exist to try to justify it.

Aww man, if Nick Adenhart was not driving with 2 other people that night, he probably would have been more focused on the road and still alive! Sure, he had the right away and everything (like Horton - not having the puck).. but back in my day, people used to drink and drive all the time and knew to look both ways before crossing busy intersections because of that!

That's something I can agree with. I didn't have a problem with him until he ran his mouth after game 5.. You don't go giving any form of critique against another goalie when you gave up like 40 goals in 2 games during a series.

I know Vancouver fans would say he was simply asked the question and answered it, and he was right, on that specific goal, TT's style hurt him. However, if you had a brain in your head, you simply don't answer the question.

That situation reminds me of Wade and his side-kick mocking Dirk.

waltgator 06-15-2011 01:09 AM

overall, its going to be a tough game for Boston to win in Vancouver..but i'll say it..go Bruins in 7...

Black Market Danny 06-15-2011 12:19 PM

should be a monumental game tonight with the Can(s)ucks choking on home ice and disappointing all of Canada. Go Bruins.

If they lose I won't be all that disappointed really. For one thing, and if I recall correctly, Boston has more Canadian players on their roster than the Canucks do.

And for another thing, Boston has outscored them in this series something like 17 to 3. Based on that stat alone Vancouver really doesn't deserve it.

If they win I'll cheer and be happy, but if not I'll cheer just as much for the Bruins, because thus far they earned it.

I pretty much feel the same way. Burrows and Lapierre aside, if the Canucks can use their home building this series to win, they earned it from their long regular season and finishing with the best record. If the Bruins win, they've earned it by dominating at home then winning on the road.

Canucks haven't won since they joined in 71, Bruins haven't won since 72. Either way the long suffering fans of one team will come to an end tonight. The other will have to wait till next year :D

vanillaice 06-15-2011 08:37 PM

!!!! I think I jizzed myself.

That being said, I have to tip my cap to the Vancouver fans tonight. Classy as hell cheering Thomas, cheering Lucic. I will be rooting for Vancouver if the Bruins don't repeat.

Spunky 06-15-2011 09:02 PM

Bruins deserved it,Thomas was fantastic,Canucks choked yet again, never seem to disappoint me in that regard.

Your time will come. Bruins were up 3-0 in the series, then in game 7 last year and choked.

Far-L 06-15-2011 10:53 PM

People keep ragging on Luongo but from where I was sitting his Defensemen failed him time and time again... even to the point of helping not just players but also pucks into the net.

And where the heck was the offense while I am at it... getting some goals in the net might've helped the situation out.

On the other hand... Thomas did appear to have a force field around him at times.

Yup, Vancouver just became the new Montreal last night. Haven't checked the news yet this morning though so I'm not sure what happened after I shut things down last night.

Last I saw the cops were just starting to move the crowds of idiots back, and it was starting to get dark out but it was still some daylight left. People were throwing things at the cops etc. Don't know what happened beyond that though.

Just completely stupid scene there though.

Looks like you have a lot of work to do today :)

Btw, Vancouver people can cry about how mean they were treated while in Boston flaunting their Canucks shirts, but at least they didn't get stabbed down here...

I didn't try to justify it. It was dirty hit, and the suspension was justified - probably a bit lenient. What I was saying was that the idiot could have avoided it if we wasn't so busy watching his perty pass.

It was a dirty hit, but 100% avoidable. All he had to do was pass the puck, change directions, and get into position. But, no. He thought it was a better idea to watch that sexy black chunk of frozen rubber gracefully slide the fifteen feet to his teammate.

This post has fallen like a rock. I guess Vancouver fans have run out of arguments. A pretty team, too bad they have to heart or work ethic. Good luck moving Luongo and the Sundin - err, Sedin - sisters in the off season.

Mutt 06-19-2011 02:03 AM

and that's a wrap for hockey season 2010-2011.

Draft is coming up and free agency - time to rebuild, reload and get ready to do it all again come October 1!

It's a great league now, like the NFL, lots of parity. Any one of 10 teams could be next year's Bruins.

I grew up when it was nothing but dynasties - Montreal, Islanders, Oilers - much rather have it the way it is now.
