TB 5, Washington Caps 3.... TB sweeps series 4-0. Does no one but me find this incredible?
Bos 5, Phi 1.... Bruins lead series 3-0. NO comment... as is obvious from Philly fans as well as BOSTON fans. *I* however knew Boston was going to do good things this year. Did you? SJ 4, Det 3.... SJ leads series 3-0. Did no one else seriously see this coming? I have to admit I didn't. I thought the Wings would put up more of a fight and make it a 7 game series, but SJ is simply dominating them. I forsee a 4 game sweep here. |
the tampa winning is surprising, washington definitely needs to change the team and coaching staff up.
surprised to see san jose 3 up on detroit.. maybe the long break detroit got hurt them. |

I was at the Lightning vs. Caps game last night. The place was rocking!
http://www.screw-you.com/tix.jpg Watched it from a Suite! :thumbsup |

That crowd did look pretty stoked. Just wait, if they win more games in round 3 (and I think they will) that arena will shake, rattle and roll like thunder, not Lightning. |
Bye bye Philly.
Boston moves on to conference final for the first time since '92 I believe. Seriously, how many here forsaw the Bruins eliminating the Flyers? Detroit finally shows some life and makes it a 3-1 series rather than a sweep. (Although their first goal tonight was offside and shouldn't have counted) |

Oh well, there is always next year! I think they need to work on Bobrovsky more and stop fucking around with the goaltending. Or maybe even get a new one. It cost them this year. Now they are out there is only one team I want to win, The Canucks :thumbsup |

Those saying the Eastern Conf. teams are weak, posers, pretenders whatever, and don't stand a chance etc, are just plain wrong. In fact, I think either Tampa Bay or Boston are going to win it all this year. Tampa sure looked solid in last night's game. Lastly, is it just me or were there a lot more hockey fans on GFY 5 years ago? |

I reckon the Boston / Tampa series is going to be great though! Hard to tell who is going to win that one. And then in the west you have 2 teams who had almost identical series. Vancouver were winning 3-0 against the hawks, went all the way to game 7 San Jose were winning 3-0 against Detroit, also went all the way to game 7. Going to be an interesting road to the final that's for sure! :) |

My one weakness is cheering for teams that have a Winnipeg connection (like the Blackhawks with Toews and Sharp both being from here), or a strong connection to our old Jets (such as the Ducks who have a few former Jets including Teamu Selanne and Randy Carlyle). Other than that it's all in who looks good and who looks like they want/deserve it the most. Right now I'm torn between Boston and Tampa, both have shown heart in these playoffs and a huge will to win. Whereas Vancouver hasn't lived up to their hype and are just barely squeaking by so far. Their series with SJ is going to be a good one though, I can feel it. |
First round was the greatest first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs I've ever seen. First round is usually the best round of the playoffs.
2nd round wasn't great - the last 2 games of the Sharks/Redwings saved it. Game 6 was a memorable hockey game. Tampa/Boston first game sucked. Last night's Canucks/Sharks game reminded me of an average middle of the season game. I hope both series pick up. I think both first games are indicative of what we're going to see - Tampa vs Canucks final. As much as that would be a horrible matchup for the NHL business/ratings wise it would be a good final. |

You saying about the Jets, you never know you might have them back next season :winkwink: Quote:
Tampa Vs Boston game 2 tomorrow! should be interesting :) |

Will be nice to have the Jets back, if it happens. I guess I'm not really a loyal Canadian team fan. I used to like Montreal as a kid, still do to a degree, and to a lesser degree liked the Leafs (esp during the Sittler years). But my fav teams through the 70's and 80's were the Flyers, Bruins, Penguins mostly. And in the WHA the Jets of course. Once they and the others joined the NHL well, I was never much of a fan of Edmo or Calgary. Never was a Vancouver fan, and certainly wasn't a Nordiques fan either. So I guess what I'm saying is that to me it really doesn't matter if it's a Canadian-based team that wins. Unless we get the Jets back of course, then all bets are off. |
It sure would be nice if Luongo started playing for the Canucks and not the Sharks.

Homegrown Video's HGV PUSSYCATS
Yeah, Stanley Cup hockey is always elevated play... except that Tampa Boston opener it looked like Boston was wielding a bunch of golf clubs already instead of hockey sticks...
But forget that for a moment and contemplate this... HOMEGROWN VIDEO HAS ITS OWN BEER LEAGUE HOCKEY FRANCHISE! Yes, Team Homegrown now is playing in the local adult league... we call ourselves... The Pussy Cats! Stay tuned, we play our summer season opener tonight... |
C'Mon Tampa!!
|
friggin sharks, better not scrub game 2
|
Bolts, for the win
|
No hockey on tonight. I'm having withdrawals.
|
Boston - Tampa going to game 7. This should be good.
Not one comment about the Canucks making it to the final? I find that amazing if not sad. Where be all the Vancouver fans? ha |

cant believe the sharks gave the tie goal with 13 seconds.. then blow it in 2OT
they just keep inching closer to the cup but damn... meant to be for canucks this time.. but Bruins are on a hot streak. |
Bruins need to be put down like the rabid dogs they are but they are looking sort of possessed. Add some ibex horns to Chara and he would look like a devil demon denizen of hell.
Nothing amuses me quite so much as seeing St. Louis and Chara next to each other... At the end of the day though the genetic experiment known as the Sedin's may prove that mutations in hockey are fodder for an X-men sequel. |

The Bruins make it back to the Stanley Cup Final after 21 years in exile. I think Tampa was a little better but Thomas was the difference.
Vancouver will be a pretty big favorite, I'm not sure how the Bruins will measure up against Vancouver, other than goal I think the Canucks have an edge. Something makes me think the Canucks will figure out a way to avoid winning a Cup. |
I get the sense that Vancouverites are quiet because they really don't want to go out on a limb and put it out there that their team IS without a doubt going to win it...like there's more doubt there than there should be.
Can't say I blame them. Boston has been playing like they're hungry, and want it badly. I won't be so bold as to say who'll win either, but I WILL say this.... it's going to be a hell of a good cup series. I can feel it. Boston's an original six team, I wouldn't feel at all bad if they won it all. Of course it would also be nice to have a Canadian-based team win, but the sad truth for me is I'm just not that much of a Canucks fan. Can't really say why. I think my stock in them went down back around the time of the Bertuzzi hit causing the head injury fiasco thing. |
This day in history: MAY 31st 2011
That is the day THE NHL RETURNED TO WINNIPEG. http://www.winnipegsun.com/2011/05/3...rtage-and-main Not sure what they're going to be called but we're back. |
Saw the bruins play pre season in Belfast. HUGE hockey fans here.
|
1 day 'til puck drop :)
|
Sedin's are tough but still must be protected from that gargantuan behemoth mutant giant Chara. Should be a good series though... two people that play as one against one person the size of two... which mutant power will prevail?
I only get excited about Original 6 teams when they play against each other... but with Vancouver/Boston there does seem to be a pretty strong difference between the western and eastern styles of play imo on a macro level; it is sort of finesse vs. physicality so that should be fun to see. |
Actually the Bruins haven't been there since 1990.. I was still living in Boston and remembered how nuts the city went.. just like it is now! Exciting!
|
It's been what, 39 years since Boston won the cup?
And for Vancouver it's been.... never? Oh this is going to be sweet to watch. And enjoy it while you can, everyone, because next year the new team from WINNIPEG is going to own the cup in their inaugural year. :D |

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that last night was probably the biggest goal of Raffi Torres's career.
3 more wins and Canucks have their first ever cup. |
Canucks best D looks to be injured, hope for some good news regarding it.

Any predictions?
I think this might get done in 6 games but I'm not inclined to say who takes it just yet. It looks like it's Vancouver's cup to lose at this point but I wouldn't count Boston out, because they're definitely not a team to turn your back on (as in dismiss) because they will bite you in the ass. I'd love to see it go to a game 7, but I have a sneaking suspicion it's going to end earlier than that. |

To me there's no better hockey than that. Except for the gold medal game of the Olympics, or... the final deciding game of the '72 summit series. :D |

If they manage to get the 4th win, does she strip and show off a Canucks tatoo? :D |
