				US screwed thread size question???

If I am buying a Manfrotto tripod head and it has a 3/8" thread, what is the full name for the thread size generally? 3/8 what? Is it Whitworth, UNC, etc? What syste do you use in the US?

If you are going out to buy 3/8 nuts and bolts from Home Depot, what are they generally? Or is it not quite as simple as that? |

3/8" = Three eights of an inch (basically slightly smaller than half an inch which would be 4/8" or 1/2")

I am trying to source fixings in the UK to fit the thread, we have a selection of 3/8" sizes, just trying to understand the system you use over ther to find the closest match here. The off-the-shelf options I tried earlier do not fit. |

		 it's either 3/8 x 16 or 3/8 x 24

16 is coarse 24 would be finer 16 threads per inch or 24 threads per inch |

if it's the fine one it's called SAE Fine so if you want a nut you would ask for it two ways: a 3/8 x 16 nut or a 3/8 nut in USS Coarse thread. Ask for bolts the same way except include the length. |

Thanks. Not ones I have heard of. I wondered if you had adopted one of the old British imperial systems.
