I know lots of couples who met on facebook and then ended up dating and going out. It's just as successful as meeting them anywhere else I would think. I don't see why it wouldn't be. Beats meeting them drunk at a club/bar and remembering them as much hotter :/

isn't it funny how the public attitude has swung so far in a few short years, it wasn't hardly long ago that people would make fun of anyone that said they met someone or were looking for a date online, now it seems like society makes fun of people that aren't doing most of their social networking online
