Coulter goes on to reference one article from the New York Times in 2001 which theorized -- theorized -- that a dose of radiation which is higher than what the government deems acceptable might "activate cells' natural defense mechanisms." She also cites a variety of examples of people deliberately exposing themselves to radiation, as if that proves anything besides the fact that lots of people do lots of crazy shit.

This is all a pretty clearly a case of Coulter finding something -- anything! -- to disagree with, for no apparent reason except self-promotion (I guess that worked). But this time, her ploy for attention is not only distasteful, it's dangerous, it's insulting to those exposed to real risk, and it even got her chastised by her frenemy Bill O'Reilly.

Coulter truly is a national treasure.

Perhaps she should ask some biologists what radiation does to a living cell.

Maybe she thinks there is some confounding factor as to why the radiation in chemo makes you so sick.... perhaps it is not the radiation but just the terrible hospital food that makes you ill???

Maybe from you, no idea, but I read something similar in another thread a week back linking chemo and radiation....

Chemotherapy is called chemo because it involves chemicals.

Radiotheraphy is so called because it involves radiation.

Radiotherapy (targetted) often follows chemotherapy (not targetted) to kill any remaining tumour cells not killed by the chemo.

I know because I have a very close friend finishing her last round of chemo and will then start on radio.

Don't confuse the two - radiotherapy has very little side effects as the beam is focussed on the cancer. Chemotherapy is bad dudu because it doesn't give a shit, killing any rapidly dividing cells on sight (and cancer cells rapidly divide, but so do others like skin and hair follicles).
