I have 3 boxes on a LINKSYS router ... it is pretty much Plug 'n Play

Once in a blue moon things go a bit buggy, I just recycle the router ... maybe once a month for good measure ...

Sorry tech term

Unplug the power source for maybe 20 seconds ... killing any "memory"(resetting the factory presets) ... and then plug it back in

I inadvertantly do that anyways whenever my cable company does work on the system, which is about once a month, and I have to reacquire my ip.

xxxcam.. I'm a cheap bastard, so I'm betting the netgear was on sale the day I bought it, lol. I haven't had any problems with it, though. *knock on wood*. Hope your problem gets fixed soon...

OK, I got shit to due, so here's my final comment (for now). If swapped out both pcs, cabling and ports and the problem pc is still a problem, then I would suggest you do the following:
Pull the box cover, take it outside, get a can-o-air, and blow it out. check the nic card make sure it's properly seated, check the nic socket, and blow it out, and try again

Any chance that the hostname for your router is the same as the hostname for the PC that's having problems? I had a client that had those same symptoms, and that's what the deal was.
