IMHO, it's not the camera, it's the shooter that makes the most difference

If your guy is comfortable with that rig and you like his work, then go for it; you can always match it in post -- plugins are your friend -- or buy a shop camera and say "hey, use this if you want the job."

I'm likely the only guy in adult using a Sony 1k

It's my last tape-based camera, but used well, it kicks ass -- but it doesn't kick ass automatically, I have to push the right buttons and point it in the right direction...

It's the shooter that matters
