Media Player 9 - GoFuckYourself.com

I"m sure everyone knows about the .htaccess issue and streaming wmv files to Windows Media Player 9 surfers. I hear you have to setup a SSL cert in order to do it properly otherwise the surfer has to download the vid before playback. Has anyone had experience setting this up that could give us the "how to" rundown.

I upgraded to the newest version of windows media player for windows xp and now I can't even play some of the vids that are saved on my pc, all I get is audio. I have heard that downgrading to version 7 is the way, but I haven't tried that yet.

As far as I know you can't downgrade WMP9 you have to do a sys restore in order to get the "bitch" out of your system. Unless your are using an older version of Windoze

WMP9 is horrible..

Just Microsoft abusing their monopoly as usual.. 9 is how they're going to force DRM on the masses.

Unfortunately aside from that it's still horrible. Bad, bad piece of software. Bloated, slow, crappy.

yup, you can't 'stream' pass protected mpegs anymore, just WMVs.

Apparently if you change your auth method in .htaccess from basic to digest it works. I haven't tried it yet. Anyone who wants to try it and let us know if mpegs stream with WMP 9, I would be grateful to.

I said it before and I will say it again... WM9 is DEMON SPAWN!!!

What's really going to suck is when all the new pc buyers this year get into the market. They will all have this piece of trash installed automatically.

I can't believe Bill Gates is pushing me to actually like Real Player and Quicktime.
