Far-l, xcllnt documentary recommendation!

that was fantastic,

figured i'd start a thread since a lot of gfyers enjoy the documentaries.

At home with rock 'n' roll monster Ginger Baker, this no-holds-barred, sad, and hilarious portrait of the man referred to as rock's first great drummer (and perhaps still its best) lets him tell his own story, intercut with footage of his continent-hopping life, from London to L.A., Nigeria, Italy, South Africa, and (way) beyond.

Baker may have broken the mold musically, but his violent, dyspeptic mood swings, fueled by a multi-decade heroin addiction, went a long way to making him persona non grata even among the music greats who still revere his work. Eric Clapton, Johnny Rotten, Charlie Watts, and Lars Ulrich

Many thanks, my pleasure.

I found it way more compelling than the Stones' "Crossfire Hurricane", which came across to me like a long commercial for the Stones including the compulsory "Altamount wasn't our fault" party line.

Another good music documentary is "Searching for Sugarman" - great story and worth checking if you haven't already seen it.

But here is one to watch out for when it goes general release or check out clips on Youtube "Sunshine Daydream" - it isn't so much a documentary as it is a document - but it gets in close and every guitar player I know, even those that thought they didn't like the Dead, marvels at the guitar magic that is captured. (plus some great Merry Prankster Acid Test footage... and of course tons of naked hippies picking flowers out of the air)

Of course, chopping off the tip of your middle finger with an ax to switch between finger and pick more easily is not highly recommended...

I want to check out the Withers one - another friend recommended that one too.

No worries on the name, I can't even say my own name so anyone understands what I am saying so I can't expect any better.

Another great music documentary - "Genghis Blues"
