![]() Now I know what it feels like to be a Glenn Beck sheep. I'm depressed and ready to throw my life savings in Gold, Seeds and canning equipment.
I couldn't stop listening to that EndofAmerica.com video, which is basically a depressing hour of doom and gloom for the US economy, based on a few real economic possibilities that the US dollar will no longer be the world currency reserve standard, & a bunch of other worse case scenario stuff mixed in with some Holocaust references to get you to buy a $50 report. I am so fucking depressed, and to top it off I'm having a horribly shitty sales day, worse than christmas day so far.... To top it off I have to meet the inlaws in 40 min at the shitty Cheesecake factory... I wish I was on anti depressants, or I was a drinker.... oh well. ![]()

If it makes you feel better, just a few decades ago THE ENTIRE EARTH was at war and we made it through that. A bomb was dropped on Japanese citizens and nearly 40,000 were killed in an instant flash. A million Jewish people were rounded up and killed.
We need to keep our modern problems in perspective. If you think these are some sort of "end times" then check out a little history. We are actually living in the most peaceful and affluent period in history. Cheer Up!

If they taxed everyone in this country 100% this year, still wouldn't cover our debts.. How is it that most people I know that have decent jobs can't afford health care with less than $1000 deductibles and still barely covers stuff, but Federal employees have policies that cover boob implants and frivolous bullshit and are "rolls royce" type policies, and can retire in their 50's at 75% pension and have full health care. There are no private sector jobs that have anything like this anymore for anyone other than very top level executive status. I can go on, but then I just sound like an anti-gov anti union loon, which I don't think I am. sad & depressing

EndofAmerica.com is just more scare mongering bullshit hype designed to inflate the value of gold like all the other hucksters doing the same thing...
Consider this- if shit did get that bad where the dollar was suddenly worthless, you had hyperinflation and the econonmy collapsed, the only thing having alot of gold in your possession would be good for is to melt it down and make fucking bullets to fight off the hordes of starving people as they attacked your house ![]() p.s. and gold on paper would remain on paper cuz you wouldn't be able to do shit with it.

Didn't someone post a bunch of covers from Time magazine. Most of those were doom and gloom and we have had several boom periods since those were published.
But I'm sure a website titled "End Of America" is pretty objective regarding it's point of view..lol.

Gold and silver, especially coins, will be used as trade in the event the bottom falls out, along with other items. And yes, it's also good to have a weapon or two. If anyone wants to know what to expect should it happen, spend some time reading up on the Argentina and Zimbabwe crash and how they survived it and some of the shit they went through. Those who didn't, because they were in denial or for any other reason, will be in a world of hurt. ![]() Just like martial arts or any sort of combat, you hope you never have to use it. As long as you distinguish between borrowing money and monetizing the debt, fine.
The point is that the world is still willing to loan the US (in US$) 30 year money at 4.5% which is cheap. Maybe the multi trillion dollar market knows something you don't? Quote:

Do you really think 300 million fucked U.S. citizens with no gold and silver and limited food resources (but with plenty of weapons) are going to let you go about your business to "trade" gold and silver for your necessities? If shit hits the fan that bad you might pray you have a heavily armed fortress...

The US$ Index is still above where it was when GWB left office in 2008. The world is loaning the US Gov't money into the future at historically low interest rates. Looking at Japan is a better comparison of what the US is fighting to avoid than Argentina/Zimbabwe (which is pure CT crap).

While hyper-inflation is possible, I find it highly unlikely as well. These are difficult times which will require years to get thru, there are no quick fixes which so many are harping on. Considering the utter disaster that Obama inherited, he and his admin have done a reasonable job.

Unemployment is about 20% now, that 9.8% or whatever is only counting those on unemployment benefits, not those who are no longer qualified or never collected in the first place. Our economy is based on sheep spending throwing thousands on credit cards they don't have. When people start doing the right thing, cutting back on spending things they don't need and saving money... the correct behavior under any definition of responsible personal finance, the economy goes into a depression.. does that sound right? Either people spend money they can't afford or we go into a depression. If you save money you will kill the economy. Ridiculous! Remove the vail or smoke and mirrors of debt from all the statistics and the economy is 20% smaller than it really is. Alot of the money appeared out of thin area to be lent to different parties over and over and back and forth. back to the porn, enough ranting lol

Don't be depressed, Gleem. Despite how bad everything appears to be, there's alot of good out there too, and lots of potential for even more good. Don't buy into this BS that EndOfAmerica and other sites push. I don't understand exactly how or why it works, but scare tactics used by these people, Fox, Glenn Beck and lots of others somehow drive up sales. Fear was used to sell the war on iraq. Gun sales went up after the AZ shooting last month. When people are scared, they spend money. Assholes like Beck SPEW fear out of their mouths every time he opens it, and at the same time sells Gold and Food rations via various companies he's a part of. Tomorrow morning, get up early and go for a walk or a jog, hopefully to a park near you. When you get back, re examine your business, stats, etc and see what you can do to improve your sales. By the end of the day you might have some new ideas in place and you'll feel a whole lot better than you do today. Cheers!

I don?t buy into smoke and mirror stat manipulation. This is taking the conspiracy route. Quote:
It is not a secret that there are different definitions, types and theories on unemployment. Quote:
The difference between us here seems to be that you are making value judgements while I?m just trying to speak in economic realities. IOW, I agree with you that many stupid things are done at both the public and private level. That?s human nature. Luckily, history has shown that we make progress ? even if it comes in 3 steps forward, 2 steps back. Quote:
If you are implying doctored stats and a conspiracy to deceive the world by the US or other countries, I think that is just crazy. Contrariwise, if you are speaking about, for example, CDO's / CDS's and the lack of regulatory oversight that allowed the leveraging of the underlying assets, then I agree that it was stupid and contributed to the problems we face. As did the private decisions made by many to recklessly spend like sheep money they did not have. Quote:
Now, I?m going to take Mark?s advice and go for a run.

And don't just stop at coins. Jewelry, bullets, coffee, booze, smokes, shoes, blankets, medicine... think about what people will NEED in the event of a shit hits the fan situation, and have those things. Or don't, up to you, I really don't give a shit. I don't even live there. I've prepared for issues on the other side of the world, not worried too much about you guys. Regardless of what you think may or may not happen in a worst case scenario, be prepared, get a gun and learn how to use it, have enough food, meds and water to last for two weeks (along with other basic survival essentials). Ya never know what may happen. Earth quake... power grid goes down... terrorist attack.... pandemic flu... or anything else that may be thrown at you. Don't be caught with your pants down. As silly as this sounds to some of you, here are some things I suggest keeping around in addition to the obvious (best to put it all in one bag): - A few basic survival books and a first aid book. - First aid kit. Antibiotics, Ibuprofen, pain killers, small kit for sewing up a wound, and so on... - LED head lamps. - A good handful of rechargeable batteries - Solar charger (if you can get with a hand crank too, get it) to charge your phones, batteries, and what not. - Small sewing kit - Water filtration system - Heavy duty flashlight (mag light) - A copy of all your important documents (keep in your survival bag) - Small amount of cash - Blanket - Extra socks - Gloves Lots of things you can keep in there, just think of what you may need if a huge earth quake happened tonight while you were sleeping and what you would need to make it through 1 - 2 weeks in the event all power went out and no one could help you. Most all of that can fit into one bag. In the event something happens, grab that bag and go where you need to go. Cause if you have nothing, you're fucked. Quote:
